About Me

In my family there is my husband, Pierre, from France, and my two teens/young adults: daughter, 22 and son, 20.

I have always had an adventurous bent. Studied and lived in France for two years before graduating from University. Lived in co-housing after children were born for 10 years. My interest in minimalism, led me to co-housing, where people share resources and live with less by living in community. It was great when my kids were younger. They lived a bit like the old days - hanging out in mixed age groups, playing in pedestrian streets. Now that the children are older, Pierre and I can pursue our other interests more freely, including more travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe strongly in the notion of sharing resources. We save money and make friends at the same time! Also, over the past year, I have appreciated how Couchsurfers enrich our family life and help my teens learn about other cultures. Since it has not worked out for us to have student exchanges in our family, our CS guests have taken that place. Awesome!

Interests

Nature, hiking, camping. Minimalism. Waldorf education. Learning about different cultures. Co-housing and healthy community. Healthy cooking and naturally fermenting foods, like vegetables and kefir.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got a job working in a hotel cafe on the Riviera in Nice during a summer - my french was so bad that I wasn't sure the manager was hiring me, but I showed up the next day. That was a hard way to learn french, but I survived!
