ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm a dynamic, easy-going and friendly person. I don't sweat the small stuff while working hard to get what I want. I just finished my translation degree, and although I loved it to bits, the time to go wandering has come again!

I lived in Ireland, Scotland, Australia for a few years and traveled extensively in my twenties, backpacking and camping around Europe, Asia and South America. I've stayed put a while, but I'm heading now to northern Spain for three months to finally learn Spanish properly, eat pintxos, drink wine and run and walk in the hills.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't wait until you're old : retire every few years and then go back to work :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A couple of friends of mine have hosted a fair few couchsurfers, and every one was lovelier, cleverer and funnier than the next, and that's why I hosted a few myself last year. And lo and behold, mine were awesome too! I think it's as much fun taking people around one's city than playing tourist away from home. I also had some interesting experiences couchsurfing in NY this summer...

Now I'm surfing around Spain, meeting amazing people and seeing a bit of the country while improving my spanish.

Interessi

I love keeping active : I don't own a car and bike everywhere, Ottawa is ideally laid out for that. I'm a runner and take part in a a few races every year. I ran my last half-marathon of the year at the start of the month and am looking forward to a bit of hiking over the Xmas holidays!

In the summer, I can be found reading under a tree in the park or hiking and camping in New England, and in the winter, snowshoeing here and there :)

I also love trying new food, whether it's at the farmer's market, a dodgy hole-in-the-wall or a 5 star restaurant (when I have the budget...)

Watching the sunset in Western Australia and having a couple of dolphins pop out of the water for an early evening show.

Trying to comprehend the sheer magnitude of the Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina.

I can cook, teach you French-Canadian swear words and talk for hours about Game of Thrones :D
