About Me

*currently moving south to north island*

ABOUT ME

Originally from France, I haven't lived there in a long while. After years in Norway, I spent some time in Costa Rica to learn more about coffee (my passion and my job) and that part of the world. I then lived in Australia for a year and I have now settled down in New Zealand.

No matter how much I love my job, it is clearly not my priority in life at the moment and my choice to settle down near Christchurch is based on the fact that it's just basically a giant playground full of options for fun things to do outside work from rock climbing in the Porthills, beaching on those aweful hot days or climbing mountains in Arthur's Pass, Lewis Pass, Mount Cook, etc etc. I am pretty addicted to the outdoor, it's a major source of inspiration and sort of a vital need to keep physically and mentally healthy!

Apart from that, I like anything that tastes good: I love cooking, and baking, I love wine, beer, coffee, tea and learning about it. I like growing things and eating them.

I love winter and walking on fresh snow. I love skiing (cross country mostly) and snowboarding (though I'm slow and lazy). I love it when it rains just so I can wear my gum boots and walk in puddles.

I like making things from scratch, like knitting or sewing stuff. My new thing recently has been learning how to draw and paint. I always thought I sucked at it but guess what, if you try hard enough and learn techniques it's not that hard!

I also love doing nothing special, sit in a café and check out what is going on around me, anywhere.

PHILOSOPHY

I love the feeling of discovering I was wrong about something I thought I knew. Travelling and bumping into random people you'd probably never have talked to otherwise is a pretty efficient trigger to get that feeling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My friend and housemate Jono and I enjoy hosting people a lot, that is why we only host when we are available to share. I think this is the core of the cs idea, it's an exchange and not only sleeping for free under a roof, isn't it? But of course you'll be free to come and go as you wish.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and been hosted many times, I've had coffees and beers with all kind of people and have often used CS to meet people when I arrive somewhere new. Even though i didn't keep in touch with everyone I definitely made some really good friends.
