Music, Movies, and Books

Right now I'm loving the books of Thomas Pynchon, Samuel Beckett, and John Hawkes.

As for music, I've lived with musicians for years, so my horizons are constantly being expanded. I absolutely love going to concerts. Right now I'm really into John Abercrombie, Steve Reich and Jamie xx's last album.

I'll watch almost anything. Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino and Richard Linklater are some of my current favorite directors. I also love scary movies, It Follows and The Conjuring were some of my recent favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Mt Fuji in one night was something I'll never forget. It was dark, cold, and we had none of the right equipment. Fellow climbers cheered us along, and their generosity was a huge boost. Some were also quite worried and told us to turn back. Definitely wanted to several times, but we persevered and made it to the top. Seeing the sun rise over the landscape below and feeling new warmth was like being born again. One of the most beautiful moments in my life.

I'm neat! I can help clean! I'm a great cook! I've worked as a cook at a cafe and at a French farm, and would love to share some meals with my hosts. I'm a big fan of talking and learning more about new places, culture and history.
