About Me

Inspired by a year of CouchSurfers, I've left Paris for good and to travel around east Asia for 10 months. My trip is over, and now I've rooted in Saigon. Haven't hosted again yet, I still need to find the words to explain my owner why total strangers would come.

I've lived in Paris for four years for my work, and has hosted tourists for a year. I'm a pretty quiet person but I enjoyed Paris underground life. Most of what I've discovered in Paris was from random walk and curiosity, just following small streets and open doors can lead you to surprising places ! I'm from country side small villages, and even if I missed French country side kindness and simplicity, I've learned to like Paris, for what you can discover and enjoy if you are curious and adventurous.

While hosting around 50 times over the last years, and during my few travel experiences, I've changed my vision of traveling. I've learned that if you want crazy things to happen to you, you have to let them happen. So I finally took the decision to leave Paris once for all and to go for my own adventures. It brought me to unexpected places, made me meet original people, and filled my stomach with delicious food. Saigon was the most welcoming place, maybe also weird, I've been through, So I've decided that it would be my next life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Paris is the top touristic city of the world, yet they are only people you see passing in the streets. I've at first joined CouchSurfing to meet those people from everywhere. Most guests were not amazing nor unforgettable, but the few other ones were worth the try. It also made me visit more Paris, made me be more curious about the city. And now, after hosting many CouchSurfers, I want to live similar experience.

Interests

When I'm traveling, eating and drinking are my first motivation. As I think about what places I randomly discovered while my guests were busy shopping in Champs Elysée, and what nice time I had with the few who did not come for tourism, I think now I'd miss opportunities if one visit would prevent me from sharing a piece of everyday life with the locals. Of course, locals have a life and the Eiffel tower is a must see, but I like to save some of my time for the unexpected.

I'm interested to experience:
• local alcohols
• local food
• what locals do on weekend
• architectural masterpieces
• nice old streets
• audacious modern architecture
• local alcohols
• street art
• parks
• unusual museums
• underground concerts
• underground life
• local food

Music, Movies, and Books

I like underground bar concerts in Paris, discovering unique styles and bands. I mostly like rock, garage and electro. Some bands you may want to check:

I don't like any specific genre or age of movies or animated movies, just I like them to be original and feel different. Without any order: Sucker Punch, 300, le Roi et l'Oiseau, For a Few Dollars More, Steam Boy, The Prestige, The Machinist, The Longest Day, Memento, Mia et le Migou, Sin city, Iron Sky, Watchmen, Time and Tide, Old boy, Le Dîner de cons, Ghost Dog, Pan's Labyrinth, Jeux d'enfants, 99 francs, The Raid ... I'm also a big fan of American adult animated sitcoms: Futurama, American Dad!, Rick and Morty, Family Guy.

I play video games, various genre but I particularly like puzzle games.

I read classical scifi or fantasy in transports. My favorite book would be Hyperion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

• I've been in the army for 14 weeks for my school. An exhausting but unique experience.
• Followed a group of Russian who did not let me go home at night because it's too dangerous, ended up playing strip poker the whole night.
• Followed a local friend in an underground viking bar in Russia, and learnt there how to dance on Irish music.
• Wanted to try local hammam with friends in Morocco, ended up in a dark wet hammam where two old men scratched our dead skin out. Definitely local.
• Went down at the wrong boat stop in the Greek islands, found one of the most beautiful and quiet island we've seen.
• Hitchhiked for a four-wheel to go to a an excavation site in Iceland, finally hiked to an otherwordly hidden little river with the two Canadian girls who took us.
• Have tasted almost everything that walks, flies or swims in Iceland.
• Traveled two weeks in Madagascar with a friendly local girl I met on the internet.
• Finally agreed to pay for a pretty expensive dinner to a friendly rasta in Madagascar, ended up eating a generous meal and the best squid ever during a candlelight dinner on the beach.
• Have quit my job and my home to travel in Asia

Teach, Learn, Share

My passion is collecting alcohols and making cocktail, that's why I had a bar at home (check my photos). I have a list of top cocktails I've gathered among my tries, and I'd love to share my recipes, or even pour some for you if you have the ingredients.
I like cooking, and I have some recipes I'm proud of (leek risotto, special lasagna, fried chicken, mixed french fries, bortsch), as long as french cakes (cannelés, tarte tatin, gâteau basque).
I'd also like to share the weird music I listen to (most of them I've known in small live concerts), and get new good ones from you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mostly live your life, I'd be glad to get on the train. If you're busy, I understand and I can discover by myself, following you're advise. If you have plans, I'd be curious to follow them, whatever they imply. If you have free time, bring me to your favorite sight, you favorite restaurant or your favorite bar, or even let's go somewhere new for all of us. And if you're just lazy, I'm somebody who can as much enjoy a movie, a board game, or whatever quiet activity.
