About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To backpack around Europe first, and then the rest of the world!

ABOUT ME

I am a 20 year old university student, and I am trying to get the most out of my young optimistic days, having gone on exchange, doing a roadtrip around America with plans to backpack around Europe when I finally finish my Business studies. As with most Australians, I have a very relaxed and friendly attitude, and do not find it difficult at all to meet and make new friends!

I love the warmth and consistently good weather of Brisbane, and love to play/referee soccer and go surfing at the beach in my free time. But at the same time, I am so fascinated by other countries and cultures that I want to leave home and explore/experience as much of the world as possible.

My first time overseas was in September 2009 when I went on exchange at a university in Quebec, Canada, and I did it to experience a new culture, meet new people, learn a language, and become more independent. After having met so many wonderful people from all over the world, I am inspired to continue travelling, hence why Europe is my first target to backpack around for a year.

Closer to now though, I am currently on a 2.5 month roadtrip around the USA with my Swedish friend, and plan to be couchsurfing regularly to meet locals and have a nice shower, as I would otherwise be camping or sleeping in the car!

Anyway, I am a life-loving friendly Aussie bloke, and I look forward to maybe visiting you in the future, or having you over at my place when I eventually return home :)

PHILOSOPHY

As stated before, I want to get the most out of life, and see as much of the world as I can. That includes backpacking as a student, travelling as part of my career, and appreciating the finer things as a retiree! And then pass on my love of travelling to my children if/when I have them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfed occasionally on a small roadtrip with friends from Montreal to Chicago, and am now on a larger 2.5 month roadtrip with a mate around all of the USA. We have only couchsurfed in New York and Los Angeles now, which is an unfortunate consequence of not having enough time or plans to contact possible hosts in advance.

Once I get home and get my own place, I would love to be able to offer a couch of my own, and show visitors all the wonders of my hometown.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Is it possible to meet a host that doesn't make you smile or feel at home???

Interests

I really love any active activities (can I say that?!?), weather it be surfing or playing soccer in the Australian summer, or skiing at Canadian ski resorts. I am really into my music and clubbing, and love the opportunity to take roadtrips and travel, to experience many cultures and meet many people.

As far as the 'boring' stuff goes, I like to read if I find a good book or series, I enjoy action/thriller/comedy movies, and I have an issue of being too addicted to Facebook to see what everyone is up to!

Oh, and I collect shotglasses :P

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I, Robot, Taken, the Pierce-Brosnan era of James Bond, the Bourne Series, Anchorman, What Happens in Vegas, 40 Year Old Virgin, The Hangover, Lord of the Rings, Happy Gilmore, and each and every Pixar Movie! I missed plenty of others I think too..

Music: Look and my iPod and you'll see a massive variety that I listen to depending on my mood, but my favourites are Radiohead and all clubbing/house music.

Books: Tomorrow When the War Began series by John Marsden, the Seven Ancient Wonders series by Matthew Reily (in fact, all of his books), and Harry Potter

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My trip through the Canadian Rockies with my family during the Christmas break was fantastic - got to ski at Whistler on Christmas Day, and skate on Lake Louise on New Years Day!!!

My exchange for two semesters has also been the most fantastic and adventurous thing I've done in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll have plenty to add to this after my 2.5month roadtrip in a car around the USA!!!
