About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I like to meet new people, see new places, try new things, be adventurious. I like to always step outside my square.

ABOUT ME

Recently I have spend 3 weeks land travel in Myanmar and 3 weeks in Northern Vietnam. I really enjoyed the hiking and learning about new cultures and the scenery on these 2 trips as I got off the normal tourist route. Earlier in the year I spent 6 weeks in Europe. Currently we are based on our sailing boat in Malaysia. Last year I sailed with my husband on our sailing boat from Sydney to Thailand via Darwin, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. In 2012, I enjoyed doing a camping safari from Cape Town in South Africa to Victoria Falls. I then spent a month in Europe and a month in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. In 2011 my husband & I returned to Australia across the Pacific on our sailing boat after sailing 54,000 kilometres in four years around the world. In my early days I travelled a lot including going by ship to England from Australia which took 6 weeks. I spent 2 years there and travelling around Europe before travelling overland from London to Katmandu. After working hard and bringing up a family my husband & I rented out our house near Sydney and backpacked around South America for 3 months which was what I wanted to do.We then bought our 4th sailing boat.We sailed across the Atlantic, via England to Sweden were he was born.We then sailed to the Med, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Malta,Canary Is and back to the Caribbean, through the Panama canal to Galapagas, French Polynesian and all the way across the Pacific to OZ! My husband is the mad sailor. I prefer backpacking, hiking, kayaking etc so try to include them while we sail.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to step outside my square. I like to live every moment as if it were my last as life is short with a lot of things to see and do!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As my husband is the sailor and loves the boat he is always happy to mind the boat while I do a few side trips as long as I don't spend too much money. At present I would like to couch surf.I hope to reciprocate when we get back to Australia or even maybe on our boat.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A wonderful way to meet new people, and cultures even if just meeting for coffee.

Interests

I love travelling, meeting new people! Music, Movies, and Books

I like funny books & Movies also books written by people I aspire to be like!I like most types of music, some in smaller doses.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I never thought I would handle sailing across the remote Atlantic ocean in a sailing boat and back again. Then the Pacific!I performed a major role in an amateur play.It was amazing!I surprised myself of what I was capable of if I put in the effort! The Salt lakes in Bolivia Machu Picchu in Peru are amazing things I have seen, sunrises & sunsets from our boat are very special as well.We survived in our boat in a force 10 in the North Sea between England and Sweden another one!

Teach, Learn, Share

Living on a sailing boat for 6 years I have learnt to be very environmentally friendly!Fresh water and electricity are special commodities. I think I could share ideas that land based people may find interesting. On our boat I make our bread!Visiting different countries all the time you learn to be very creative with cooking and to use what is available.Having lived and travelled in Australia most of my life others may be interested to learn about Aussie!

What I Can Share with Hosts
