Overview
About Me
I finished my undergraduate back in June and am hoping to see the world a bit more before heading to graduate school where I plan to study psychological anthropology and the anthropology of consciousness. When I'm ready to settle I would like to be a professor, until then I'm hoping to do some traveling as a dive instructor while continuing my work with at-risk youth.
I love everything outdoors, especially scuba diving, snowboarding, mountaineering, wilderness survival/primitive skills, camping and backpacking. I also have an affinity for fire breathing, music playing, nerding-out, video games, anything 90s, anything spicy, the paranormal/supernatural, cooking, doggies, laughing when I shouldn't be and anything with history.
Portland, Oregon is my home base and I usually always have at least one free room available for those visiting the States. Must love dogs!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet fellow adventurers, make new friends, see new places and experience new things.
Interests
New experiences, adventuring, scuba diving, snowboarding, playing music, playing with fire, working with youth, photography, exploring, camping, outdoor survival, mountaineering, kayaking, MMA, anything relating to the paranormal or supernatural, psychopharmacology, philosophy, history, archeology, old things, psychological anthropology and the anthropology of consciousness. Conversations about any of the above.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: A little bit of everything, except country; I don't do much country. Love my 90s alternative.
Movies: Good movies are good movies. Can't go wrong with Disney, Pixar, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Donnie Darko, Fight Club, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Quentin Tarantino, Star Wars, Star Trek, LotR, Harry Potter.
Books: Anything Tolkien, Rowling, or Gaiman. Love learning, so I read a lot of non-fiction, particularly the social sciences and humanities.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent time with faith healers down in Brazil. I take most things with a pretty liberal dose of skepticism, but that experience was a trip.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning new things, as well as sharing things I've learned with others. I can teach basic music theory, guitar and percussion. I've also studied various martial arts throughout the years, with a focus on Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning a sponsorship on an amateur fight team. These things have helped me feel more secure in my travels and I'm sure they would do the same for others. If you come to the Pacific Northwest, I'll show you everything you'd want to know. And if you love the outdoors, you'll be stoked.
