About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Making new friends and gaining wisdom from folks all over
ABOUT ME
I'm friendly, enjoy adventure and getting to know interesting folks and their perspectives. I often combine my part-time work with doing touristy stuff when time allows usually after 6 pm in the evenings. I'm perhaps among the most low maintenance and respectful guests you'll ever meet and welcome hosts to review my references. Typical Texan.. never met a stranger :-)
PHILOSOPHY
I believe paying it forward is crucial in programming a happy life. What you invest is what you get back.
I do have a bit of a pet peeve about couchsurfing hosts who read a profile and don't bother spending a couple minutes to let a surfer know "yes" or "no" so he/she can make alternate plans. Some surfer like myself travel more frequently and don't have much time to plan a trip so responses within 2-3 days is hugely appreciated.
I am especially impressed with folks who host surfers in late despair. I tend to travel a lot for my part-time job and learn where my next trip is a week or so beforehand.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
This site helps members build a positive network and lifelong friendships while creating a better understanding of sociology, culture and diplomacy. Hanging out and just having fun interaction/conversation is the key to becoming more worldly, more interesting, refined and cultured.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Been to and made awesome friends with hosts in over 40 states. My ultimate goal is to surf Europe in the next couple of years. THis site is great for preventing boring, stuffy and unfulfilling hotel stays.... and you ever notice how they rarely know a thing about their city more than 20 feet beyond the front door? :=)

Music, Movies, and Books
Comedies, suspense thrillers, some horror without gore, drama, any music with a good dance tempo and any and everything from the 80's. I'm from Texas and all but prefer Top 40 to twangy country.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled to 46 U.S. States to date, learned rock climbing in NC, ate antelope chili in Wyoming, enjoyed haunted cemetery tours in historic cities and learned an enormous amount about diverse cultures.
Other random stuff: Been in several TV or feature films over the years, met a few celebs like BB Thornton, Valerie Bertinelli, John Travolta and a few lesser-known entertainers. I once attended an International Film Festival screening in Santa Barbara and unassumingly asked for a Kleenex from a guy next to me who turned out to be the subject of the screening itself. I was embarrased but he found it hysterical enough to share when he was introduced. Dumb blond moment! :-) I had never heard of him in my life and simply went to the screening because a host got two tickets. Yikes! Later on that same trip, I attended a host's Junior League gala auction and made the mistake of scratching my nose and the emcee, comedian Jay Thomas, assumes it's a legitimate bid for $500... for a first grader's coloring book entry! Thankfully, someone "outbid me" a LOOOOONG minute later LOL. Such memories!
