Overview
About Me
I'm from a small suburb of St Louis where I spent most of my early life. After high school, I went to West Point in New York for four years, where I got to study abroad in Taipei for a bit. Did a 3 month stint training with the Taiwan Army. After university I had to give time to the military and went to Korea for a year, then Fairbanks, Alaska, then Korea again... I just finished a gap year doing some workaway travel and loved it. Despite what you may gather from my military service, I'm extremely left leaning despite the current situation in my country.
I've finally settled in Pittsburgh where I make whiskey so if you're into spirits, I'm your guy.
Don't copy+paste requests, I've done this long enough to know the difference. Please don't be weird.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've actually accompanied a few friends on couchsurfing trips that they were a part of, whether hosting or being hosted. The people always seemed to be a good crowd and it looked like a great way to meet new folks and new places. After a few of these trips, I figured I should get in on it too.
Interests
Naturally I love traveling, but a few other interests: Whiskey (I ran a whiskey group in Fairbanks), writing music, playing guitar and violin, calligraphy, reading, studying languages, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once jumped out of a plane and landed in a shrimp farm in Gaoxiong, Taiwan. The smell was so bad I had to be bused back alone after being hosed off against a brick wall while everyone watched. Real shit day, that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help with English if it is not your first language but can communicate just fine in Chinese or Korean if you prefer. My Mandarin is fluent but my Korean is definitely not as good as my Mandarin.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can sleep anywhere and have some pretty cool stories. I'll probably buy you a bunch of beer, too.
