My name is Austin Liu and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. Both my parents grew up in China and moved to the Netherlands in the 80s. In my spare time I like to hang out with friends, watchinig series/movies, play football and piano. I also like to travel a lot and been to most of the countries in Europe, several countries in Africa, the United States of America and China ( 7th time already!!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet people from all over the world and learn about their cultures and countries. My first time experiencing CS was when I was on exchange in Istanbul. With a group exchange friends we decided that we wanted to take a break of the University during the Turkish Election Oktober 2015. Suddenly someone came with the idea to go to Iran! Since nobody knew what we could do their with used CS to come in contact with locals. This was truly an amazing experience that I will never forget! Now I know what nice things can be done with CS I will like to use it the fullest to explore the whole world!

Interests

-I have played football (soccer) almost my whole life, but know I am only following the sports,
-I have played the piano for several year and that is why I think I like music in general
-My interested for travelling began when I attend university. After finishing my first year I went on a interrail trip with 2 of my best high school friends for 3 weeks in whole Europe visiting 10 cities.
-Since I am majoring in Econometrics (basically Applied Mathematics) I grew an interested in how business work and how value can be added so if you like to discuss about Economical stuff you've got the right person

Music, Movies, and Books

-I like to listens to all kinds of music depends on the mood!
-I especially like movies directed by Christopher Nolan such as: Inception, The prestige and Interstellar.
-I do not often read books but recently I have read of biographies of Elon Musk and Steve Jobs, which were really inspiring.

Teach: My friends always come to me for asking advice or needing help with math problems:)
Learn: Currently I am improving my Mandarin and I would like to continue until I reach a level of near native proficiency
Share: I can share you my travel experiences and also my experiences in living in the Netherlands, while being a child of Chinese immigrants
