About Me

I live in Chicago with two of my bandmates, have a girlfriend, Andrea, of two years who is a professional dancer, and who owns a little terrier/greyhound mutt named Gustave, and I work at a multimedia music company called Audiotree.tv as the head graphic designer and creative editor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on tour from August 9-23 on the East Coast with my band, Outrun the Sunlight. We're a 5-piece instrumental progressive metal group, and we travel with one photographer who is documenting our journey.

You can hear our music here: www.outrunthesunlight.bandcamp.com
You can watch some music videos too:

Our current schedule looks like this:
8/9 • Clifton, NJ • Dingbatz
8/11 • Cambridge, MA • The Middle East
8/12 • Danbury, CT • Heirloom Arts Theatre
8/13 • Burlington, VT • Higher Ground
8/15 • Dayton, OH • Rockstar Pro Arena
8/17 • Westland, MI • The Token Lounge
8/18 • Chicago, IL • Subterranean
8/20 • Knoxville, TN • The Open Chord

My band/travel group are:

• Cody (guitarist) - he's a manager at a high-end grocery store in Chicago, and even though pretends to not like anything, really likes good music, good beer, and dogs.

• Connor (bassist) - he works at a ticket company in Chicago, has a girl who also owns a puppy, and he's an overall nice, funny person, who has a degree in communications from DePaul in Chicago.

• Pedro (drummer) - this guy works at a bar full-time, and has studied barbering for the past two years, and can take your misshapen mop and turn it into a presentable hipster cut in about an hour. Really funny person.

• Adrian (keyboardist) - a "baby-chef", "Dri" studied at Kendall in Chicago, and is a vegan, loves to cook and write music and wants to ultimately figure out how to live sustainably and spend as little money as possible. He makes Cody laugh harder than anyone else can.

• Jonathan (photographer) - the nicest person I know, I studied at Columbia with him, he's a great shooter, (check his instagram https://instagram.com/earley.bird/) and is a major traveller.

We come with our own sleeping bags, and are really just looking for a floor with a roof over our head instead of our tour van. If you can accommodate that, it would mean a great deal to us.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite directors are Paul Thomas Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Noah Baumbach, and Wes Anderson. I listen to a lot of progressive music: jazz, metal, instrumental, post-rock/metal, classic rock, folk. For the most part, I dislike top 40 music. We all have a dirty/dry sense of humor, and love the show Tim & Eric.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently, I jumped thirty feet into an 80 foot pool of crystal clear water in a giant cave in Mexico.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know what this section means, but I love sharing ideas, music, and movies, and talking about things that are important to whoever I'm speaking too.

If you've ever been curious about what it's like to play a 7-string guitar, you can try ours. If you are a musician/artist, I can also advise you on how to cheaply and efficiently record your music, and tips on social media and artist relations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My keyboardist, Adrian, is a trained baby-chef from Kendall College and can make you love vegan/vegetarian food. I love to cook myself, we're all extremely respectful and clean, and are just grateful for a place to stay on tour. And my drummer, Pedro, is a superb barber and cuts everyone's hair in my band. If you need a haircut, he's your man.

Also if you're a fan of our music and we hook up before the show, we'll happily guest list you to the gig!
