About Me

Just your typical graduate student in psych who enjoys the finer things in life such as 3 cups of coffee in one day, procrastinating (then rushing things), and attempting to adult.

I like to keep busy so I find myself reading often, going to the gym, meditating (when I can), reading, going on adventures/be in nature/traveling, chilling with friends, and binge watch tv shows (see note above on procrastination). Always up to exploring new places and trying new things. I'm also a very empathetic individual and really take time to understand how someone is feeling and connect on that level. Cordialness and appreciate are important to me, especially respecting one another. Lastly, I love to laugh so wit and good jokes go a long way!

I'm also a cis-gendered, male, and I fall on the LGBTQ spectrum, closest to G

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to host people as the year goes on and introduce people to Philly while making connections to people across the country/world.

Also on to meet other intrepid adventurers and be able to immerse myself in a place with the guidance of another.

As of now this is my first time using couch surfing and hosting.

Interests

It's hard to condense everything into key tags since I'm open to many things

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: When I'm not reading for school, I quite enjoy reading for pleasure. Most of the books I read relate to history or religion. I always love a good Novel though.

Movies: Drama, Suspense/Psychological thrillers, Comedy, and the occasional Romance.

TV: Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Black Mirror, Jessica Jones, Orphan Black, Continuum, Community, How to Get Away With Murder, American Horror Story, Fear the Walking Dead/Waling Dead, and so on.

Food: Yes please. Not too picky about food, but certainly have an affinity for Asian (specifically Thai), Indian, and Latin/Hispanic Food.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I work/study in the mental health field and people can often be seeing someone for awhile. It's a big thing when a client decides to stop coming to therapy because they don't feel like they need it any more. One of my first ever clients whom I've been seeing over this past year came to me recently as I neared the end of my practicum and determined she was done with therapy. I was most worried about her with me leaving and I pressed to make sure her choice wasn't a preemptive break. She hadn't denied the possibility, but noted that she truly felt better.

I know this may not seem much vis-a-vis other's experiences/accomplishments, but having someone get to a place where they feel better is a beyond extraordinary feeling, and a rewarding place to be in.

Teach, Learn, Share

I often like to have in depth conversations about any topic. If I don't know much, then I'm always open to learning. I take a very philosophical approach to certain things. Often the mere contact with another can be a transformative experience, even if for a brief period of time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A vast amount of knowledge of psychology and practical psychological guidance. I also love to cook and I've gotten better at making Cuban style black beans! Can also share timeless experiences even with places that one is familiar with.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, Cayman Islands, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom
