About Me

I like to travel, and enjoy meeting new people. I have been to western Europe several times, and the western US also. Lately I have been unable to travel much as I took in a Parrot who I have to find a sitter for when I go somewhere. He is loud and bites. I have enjoyed traveling in the past and love meeting and learning from people in there areas. I have been doing this for most of my life from time to time. I am now retired but still work from time to time to subsidize my hobbies. I have many hobbies, but lately I am in the design phase of some paper molding. I play guitar and mandolin and love music. I love dance and music. I make beer and wine, but find I am not so much of a drinker, I am more of lifelong student of the world and learning how to do things seems to be a fun part of it.
I am Not looking for a hookup and want to be clear about that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find staying in a hotel kind of isolating. I am a talker and listener and enjoy sharing information about places I have been and would like to go. Somehow, the travelers who stay in hotels do not seem to appreciate my conversation. I travel alone and I am not looking for anything other than mutual respect and a place to sleep for a day or so. I take short trips as I have a home and have pets I need to get back to. My parrot is ok for a day or two with someone else, but I do not like to leave him for longer than that. i am hoping to work out something soon so I can leave for a longer length of time. I hope to host but live in a very rural area and have not found anyone traveling this way. The people I have met while traveling have been so cool, and wonderful. Perhaps it is because we are like minded. Couchsurfing has added a whole new dimension to traveling. We are so lucky that some had the knowledge and insight to create this site. I have used youth hostels when I have traveled and have learned through networking about great places to visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Mitchner as an author.. and enjoyed Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance. I like music that is uplifting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled in Western Europe, by myself. There are many good stories connected with that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am willing to teach, learn and share things I know, and about places I have been. I like learning languages and have been learning Spanish, French, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian and German. I like to know some of all languages, even if it is just Hello, and Thank you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Aside from friendship, I do repair work. I fix appliances and am an Electrician. I am glad to help out as I can. My career was doing repair work to most anything. From owning a few properties I have learned to do plumbing, light carpentry repairs and repairing some machinery. I do not repair microwaves or tv's, but I do work on washing machines and small appliances. I enjoy my work.

Countries I’ve Visited

England, France, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden
