Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Priscilla, a digital-artist-turned-digital-nomad who's finally left her office job in Austin, Texas to go walkabout around the world. I'm a pretty laid-back gal who likes art, traveling (perhaps obviously), reading (usually fantasy), video games, anthropology & history, thinking about societal trends and how people and brains work. I think people are fascinating in general, and am usually happy to chat and meet new people, although like any person I like a bit of quiet time sometimes. Although I wasn't born in the southern US, I've picked up a few southernisms since living there for the past ten years, so don't be surprised if a stray "y'all" pops out of my mouth!
I'm looking forward to a ton of new experiences, meeting new people, and broadening my horizons!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people in new cities and get an insiders' view on the places I'm visiting! Hostels, meetups and bars can be great, but it never hurts to have other avenues to meet folks.
Interests
I'm kind of a hummingbird with my interests. Dip in, dart out, flit from flower to flower. There's so many things to be interested in! I've dedicated my career for the past few years to illustration, so there's that. Of things that I haven't mentioned in my quick About Me, I also like dancing, and religious studies (though I am personally an agnostic atheist - a really good concert is probably the closest I'll ever get to a religious experience), and cats, and martial arts, and webs of relationships, and snakes, and men's fashion, and cocktails, and tabletop RPGs, and motorcycles, and improv, and and and -- well, don't really expect me to have delved too deeply into any of these topics.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a soft spot for electronic music of the Glass Animals, Purity Ring, SOHN, CHVRCHES sort, but I also like singer-songwriter stuff like Vienna Teng, and folk things like Great Big Sea, and occasionally gothic metal like Lacuna Coil or Apocalyptica, and also a slightly embarrassed fondness of K-pop (SMTown stuff generally, particularly Girls' Generation and Super Junior).
Movies I have an inexplicably hard time watching without someone to watch it with - I tend to spin off into reading, gaming, or dicking around on the Internet, without someone to keep me on track. I dunno. I tend to enjoy sci-fi, the MCU movies, well-done teen comedies, period pieces and animation. Most recently I've seen Moana, Dr. Strange, Arrival, Fantastic Beasts, and The Handmaiden, and really liked all of them.
Reading-wise, I love fantasy, urban fantasy and YA - big fan of Sanderson, and I grew up on the Wheel of Time and Tamora Pierce. Also into non-fiction; Thinking, Fast and Slow blew my mind, as did the New Jim Crow. Pop science stuff is fun, particularly the books by Mary Roach and Malcolm Gladwell. I should read more by Jared Diamond, I enjoyed Guns, Germs & Steel and Collapse.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watched the northern lights while sipping wine in a hot tub in a remote cabin in the backlands of Iceland.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: drawing, photo editing, a random useless assortment of historical and sociological factoids
Learn: I'd love to learn more about horseback riding (I used to do some in high school), martial arts, falconry, beekeeping, surfing, gliding, or dancing, particularly breakdancing or Latin! Really, I'm pretty open to learning new things in general - my only regret is that there are only so many hours in the day.
Share: I'm always happy to pitch in with chores, whether cleaning, cooking or otherwise! I'm probably better at cleaning than cooking, though.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're amenable, I can do a quick digital portrait or a rather-less-quick-and-probably-less-skilled pen and ink sketch!
I also love baking, and I can cook if I'm following a recipe.
