Finish my current degree and then conquer the world, or possibly step 2 first...

ABOUT ME

I am much too curious and generally refuse to sit still. I caught the travel bug at about age 14 and haven't looked back. I've lived in several different countries and enjoy exploring every aspect of a place - the people, food, landscape, music, public transportation...
Currently finishing up a PhD in Folklore with Memorial University in Newfoundland but living in Northern France since this is where my research is based. I teach beginners bellydance and enjoy SCUBA diving, even when its freezing!

PHILOSOPHY

Why not? Generally I can't think of good reasons why I shouldn't go out and try something new, or travel to a place I've never seen before. I do also adhere to the golden rule - treat people as you would have them treat you - and it has served me well.

Attended a CSing party in Lille for Lille 3 mille.

I've surfed a friend's air mattress.

Have hosted a few surfers now that I'm settled in St. John's.

Looking forward to future CS events in my current location.

I wasn`t on CSing yet, but I surfed a friend's couch in Vancouver, BC in the summer of 2008 for a week :D.

Why can't I (or if you know how, how do I) select the North Pole as a place I'd like to visit???

Bellydance, diving, travelling, learning languages and meeting wonderfully crazy people. I'm also studying Folklore, specifically Personal Experience Narrative.

Music, Movies, and Books

Variable taste in all three areas - I am an avid reader (have been reading a lot of french novels in an attempt to maintain/improve my language skills now that I'm back in a predominantly english-speaking area), enjoy music of all kinds and like different types of movies depending on my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A kitchen party with friends and an ecclectic collection of musical instruments - humpback whales breaching in Mobile Bay so close to the boat that we could touch them - watching the sun burn away the mist outside of our tent near the peak of a Pyreneese Mountain - learning to dive in the North Atlantic Ocean - taking surfing lessons in Byron Bay - having my fortune told in Marrakech - performing bellydance for an audience for the first time - surviving a head-on collision with a black bear, and a trumpeter swan attack for that matter - sitting around a campfire with friends and family at my favourite place.
