Overview
About Me
My name is Ava (pronounced like avatar). If I asked my friends to describe me in a few words, they'd probably say that I'm spiritual (to which I'd say: we all are), intelligent and witty, creative and also *pause* charismatic.
The sense of self is always evolving, and thus the ways in which I dress my spirit changes as well. But as of April 2024, I wear the following masks in my life:
Firstly, I am a Singer and Songwriter with a deep love of RnB, Neo-soul and New age music.
Second, I've spent the past few years living an intentional yogic lifestyle at an Ashram (in Toronto!) and being seasoned as a Yoga Teacher.
Third, I am an Astrologer and slowly stepping into my power as a Timekeeper.
Fourth, I am a Digital Marketer by day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first real travelling experience was studying abroad in SE Asia (Singapore) for a semester, where I stacked all my classes on 1 school day and spent the 4 months backpacking through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and more. I did the whole hostels thing, and it was just what I needed as a 20-year old in university.
During that time I began hearing about Couchsurfing, but never actually gave it a try. Now, after 8 years of very limited travel, I am reaaally craving travel experiences that have more depth, maturity, cultural exchange and living like a local-ness. I want to learn about the places I visit in a way that gives me greater appreciation for the history, values and spirit of those people (yes, this includes you too New Yorkers..)
I myself was born in Punjab, India, to a Sikh family but was raised in the multicultural Greater Toronto Area (GTA) where I grew up with friends from the Caribbean, Greece, Japan, Nepal, India, UK, Africa and more! Needless to say, I have lots of culture oozing out of me at all times, wanting to be expressed and shared.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Forgiven my parents.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a singer, songwriter and music producer, with some skills on the guitar and keys so I can definitely share lots about my songwriting craft and songwriting theory. As a yoga teacher (and student) my life revolves around yoga, meditation and spiritual growth, as well as very esoteric and mystical spiritual practices that you won't be able to source elsewhere. I am a proud plant medicine and psychedelic advocate, and have a deep connection to and reverence for all of Earth's psychedelic medicines, especially Ayahuasca, Psilocybin and Empress Ganja. Lastly, I am a bomb-ass chef and Indian and Thai are my favourite cuisines to cook.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Spiritual practices, ancient wisdom, modern neuroscience as well as the music that holds it all together.
