Hey there :) My name is Aven and am currently a Biology student from the states. I have a free spirited personality with an open mind. My friends call me the social butterfly of their group because I love connecting with others. I like to take and learn from their experiences and also leave a print of myself within them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a first generation Kurdish-American. I come from a very conservative household back in the states and was never allowed to express myself for the simple fact of being female. (wasn’t allowed to even leave the house alone as a grown women) I was miserable so decided I wanted to be myself and be happy so I left America to Europe to be an Au Pair. (In Barcelona, Spain) I didn’t know what I was getting myself into but thought anything was better then my current situation. I am currently staying with the family and I absolutely love them! The only problem is they only need an Au Pair until July and I’m not ready to go back to the states. I feel like I’m finally finding happiness here and I am trying to stay here in Europe as long as I can. I hope this site helps me connect with people throughout my stay. I would like to meet the locals of the cities I visit and see what living in their home town is truly about. Hopefully we can be friends after as well :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I will just about listen to anything I’m a big lover of music except one kind.,. Don’t hate me. But the only thing is I hate country music, I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. So it was played constantly for the tourists and over time I just haven’t liked it. But I will listen to pop, rock, r&b, latin, rap, edm, reggae....literally anything not country. My favorite kinds of movies have to be comedy, romance, and action. I worked at a library for 4 years from the age of 16-20. I’ll read anything that I can gain knowledge from. (Favorite kids book the giving tree, current favorite adult the alchemist)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something amazing that I’ve done has to be throwing myself into Europe with no knowledge of it. It really took me out of my comfort zone which I love. I don’t like to be comfortable. I feel like every day should be a new adventure. I’ve been cliff diving, Sky diving scared of heights), attended festivals, planned trips for the following week.
