About Me

I've just moved to Toronto for work from New Zealand, and looking to meet people in Toronto, or on any of my travels!

After I finished my university studies, I went travelling solo for 8 months. I went all over Europe, including Scandinavia, Iceland, Croatia, Turkey, Morocco. I then went over to South America to Colombia and Peru and did Machu Picchu, and on my way back to NZ I also visited Japan and L.A. I worked for a year, realised I had the travel bug, and had to go again, so I went to Nepal and trekked to Everest Base Camp, and then travelled around India for a month.

At the start of 2016 I went to Madagascar to do some volunteer English Teaching, then onto Tanzania to climb Mt Kilimanjaro.

And now I'm in Canada, never really been to this part of the world before so I feel like there's so much to see. I'm enjoying being able to explore North America, and also trying to see some of South America too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I haven't ever surfed, but I've been on couchsurfing for around 8 years, and used it when travelling to meet others travellers or locals to hang out with.

I have attended the weekly couchsurfing meet in Toronto and met some great people, and would like to continue to meet great people!

Now that I'm in Canada, I'm keen to explore the country, and feel like couchsurfing could be a good way to meet like-minded people.

Interests

I enjoy running, hiking and outdoors, live music, stand up comedy, craft beer, and exploring new places. Usually when I get to a new place, I like to just wander around and get to know a place that way. But I also really enjoy meeting locals or fellow travelers to explore with, and I love finding small chill bars to listen to live music.

Music, Movies, and Books

All sorts of music, not entirely sure how to classify a lot of what I listen to, and I don't stick to any one or two genres, I'll take em all. Love discovering new music and actively hunt it out.

Some key favourites are Anderson Paak, Banks, Kaytranada, the XX, Ben Howard, the Internet.

Also NZ music like Opensouls, Katchafire, Fat Freddy's, Black Seeds Shapeshifter. Classic Kiwi summertime tunes. And very keen to pass on this NZ music to others who haven't heard it before!

Favourite books tend to be adventure ones, eg Papillon, Shantaram, Into Thin Air

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland
Trekking to Everest Base Camp
Finding the Lost City in Colombia
Visiting a school in the Himalayas
Camping out at the very tip top point of NZ
Climbing Kilimanjaro

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach English, and trying to learn Spanish. I used to speak a little French and Italian, but I've forgotten most of it... But I'm open to learning any language, and I think when going to a new place it's important to try learn some of the basics!

Countries I’ve Visited
