About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find beauty, community, peace, and joy.

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from San Francisco.

I've lived in and visited a lot of places and met all kinds of people. I'm adventurous and passionate. I really like learning about new places and people and cultures and the differences in people and beliefs in the world in an attempt to understand it as much as I can, and in the process try and discover a spark of the totality of the human experience.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to love and feel positive as much as possible, even when faced with negativity. When things are too negative for that, at least learn from them. Try to gain from everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been involved in the CS scene in SF, Shanghai, Bangkok, and Seoul, hosted several people, and stayed with hosts in Bangkok, Taipei, and Hong Kong.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met lots of really cool people through CS meetups in Seoul, San Francisco, and Bangkok, and hosted as well as surfed.

Interests

My favorite thing to do is probably to meet and talk with people, but I also love reading, writing, biking, hiking, exploring, history, anthropology, learning, and generally experiencing all kinds of things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love folk music the most, and rock a close second, then indie.

I really love lots of movies, but my favorite tend to be about extremes of the human psyche. My favorites are Heavenly Creatures, Akira, Trainspotting, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Children of Men, Suzhou River (Chinese 苏州河) and Pan's Labyrinth.

Books: Murakami, GRR Martin, Marquez, China Mieville, Eugenides.

I love indie and folk. Mountain Goats, Neutral Milk Hotel, Mumford and Sons, Black Keys, Postal Service, Decemberists, but tons more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once didn't speak English for 4 days in Thailand... when I spoke it again, I could hear my own accent.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really interested in different people's stories and viewpoints from their own separate lives. We're all pieces of the universe expressing itself after all.

I also really like exploring cool places, nature, history, politics, anthropology and current events in general. I love to compare cultures and experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of stories, cultural experiences, travel advice, and grammatically incorrect languages.

I'm pretty friendly and fun to hang out with, as I'm energetic and always down for anything! But I also love to write and read, and am low maintenance.

I am a teacher and can recite a lot about history and anthropology. I'd love to learn more about philosophy, biology, and chemistry.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Singapore, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Dominican Republic, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, South Korea, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
