About Me

Hi Everyone

This is Avril from Taiwan . A teacher who work in a out of school care center.
I'm someone who likes to enjoy a good laugh, travel the world, experience great food (I also cook sometimes) and hanging out with friends, or something that will take me out of city.

I love travel abroad and experience different cultures. I have been in Australia around two years for working holiday, let me tell you a story from about my friends go hunting for roots and emus !

Besides, I can show you around and introduce Taiwanese , help people who want to learn Mandarin, or just simply want to a know more about Taiwan.
I have worked as Chinese tutor for foreign students for two years, love this kind of job.

Nice to meet you :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friends and I used AirBnB in Australia. For $100 we got a room that was a 15 minute train station from the center of Sydney. We arrived, were shown around and our host flew off on his moped. We got to pretend to be real Aussie for a night, and met our host for a drink before we left. We felt comfortable, since we had the apartment to ourselves, yet got an authentic experience by being in a real neighborhood. I would definitely do it again!

And living with locals when travelling in a foreign country makes the whole experience so much better for me! That's why I'm on couch surfing, seeing how people live locally is always very interesting, and a great way to meet people as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been volunteering with disabled people for nearly one year, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best things I’ve done,to helps improve their lives in a variety of ways

It’s an amazing thing to do, and I particularly love having the opportunity to volunteer with the many groups, you can give people with disabilities a chance to gain the confidence and skills they need to grow into independent adults. Seeing disabled people flourish in a safe and supportive environment is both a joy to see, and hugely rewarding as well!

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn how to speak the Chinese language

I have worked as Chinese tutor for foreign students for two years. My students come from Japan \ South Korea \America or India, some of them had a good Chinese ability, and some of them were beginning about Chinese. So, I am enjoy this teaching progress and I love this kind of job.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My working holiday story in Australia

When I was 27, I was a backpackers in Bundaberg , a countryside in Queensland, Australia. I enjoy backpacking and meet with other backpackers, all aged between 18 and 30. They were sharing stories about how they worked in the shearing sheds, and milking sheds ,go hunting for roots and emus...etc. And have a true Aussie Christmas in 40 degrees heat and a BBQ for breakfast with local people

In my first year alone, I did a lot … I also easily got to see parts of Australia.
I’ve loved travelling slowly through this beautiful place. Really experiencing it, getting to know its people, not just passing through, taking a few photographs here and there, but contributing, and just being.

My homemade dessert

I loved to bake and create different desserts, chocolate fondant and tiramisu
are my favorite desserts. Tiramisu and chocolate fondant are even simple to make, just need a little time. Let sit for 10 minutes to share a creamy and light and heavenly dessert together :)
