Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Avril.
I love the mountains, trail running, ultra running and hiking.
Anything outdoors really. I love food (not a picky eater by any means) and coffee. I also have a boyfriend who I absolutely adore.
I may seem a little quiet or reserved when you first meet me but when I’m comfortable, and being myself I’m very childlike, passionate, upbeat and super enthusiastic.
I love travelling, but sadly I have only been to about 6 countries (I’ve been to all 32 counties in Ireland though). I plan to add a few more to my list next year however.
I would describe myself as friendly, open minded and childlike and I absolutely love high energy people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ve been lucky enough to get a year off work to travel. I will be in Patagonia, Antartica, South East Asia and Canada. A lot of my travelling will be done solo so I would love to meet the locals and be in good company. If I could be hosted in their home for a night or two that would be incredible. I find it hard sometimes to be alone experiencing something incredible, because part of experiencing amazing moments is having someone to share it with.
Interests
I love trail running, ultra running , hiking and camping.
Anything outdoors really. Also passionate about self growth and development and I love coffee and good food. I’m not a big drinker really (I know, can I even call myself irish) but I won’t say no to a glass of wine every once in a while.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a random taste in music, from indie folk to some punk rock, country music to classical. I will listen to pretty much anything.
Movies wise, I love a good comedy, rom com, a good thriller or anything based on a true story.
Books, I am currently reading Atomic Habits. I like anything to do with self growth and self development really. Also, I need out every now and then on performance nutrition books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking to Everest base camp and Kalapathar. 121km of walking through the Himalayas and witnessing some of earths highest mountains including Mount Everest itself. Hiking to an altitude of 5644m (18500ft) It’s an experience I will never forget. Those memories for me will last a life time.
I’ve also ran an ultra marathon through one of Ireland’s famous and most beautiful ways. The Kerry way.
60km of trail and beautiful scenery. It was a goal I had set myself 2 years previous and after getting injured during training the first year, going through physio, training hard and staying focused on the goal at hand, I crossed the line in just over 8 hours and it was one of the proudest moments of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about nutrition, performance nutrition, rural Ireland and Irish culture. I can also teach you a few Irish phrases and how to pronounce them. I’m fluent in English with very veeeeeeeery basic French. I would be interested in learning a few phrases from your language and about your country, culture and traditions.
I love hiking and trail running so I would love some company on my hikes and trail runs. I don’t run fast, I run to enjoy the scenery and eat food along the way so if you’re not a fast runner, that’s no problem at all.
Countries I’ve Visited
England, France, Ireland, Italy, Nepal, Northern Ireland, Spain
