About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life like a perennial Pride parade!

ABOUT ME

Despite being over 30, everyday I discover something new about myself, what makes me feel really good. But basically what I've concluded so far is: I secretly think my world is too small and meaningless, so I became a polyglot and I collect recipes from a million cultures and cities I visit to make up for it. Unfortunately, I speak only five languages fluently to this day (one of which Couchsurfing doesn't acknowledge as a language: Pirate, arrr!). I am a Radical Faerie. As a hyper-creative cuss, I'm the kind of guy that prefers MAKING things to buying them made--especially music and food. Learning languages, recipes, dances and songs from other cultures makes me feel like I live unbound, and the whole world is within reach.

So, what it comes down to is, I eat like a king and dance like a queen. Heh.

Things I really want you to know about me: I'm 100% vegan when I am in charge of shopping, cooking and planning my meals, but because I travel a lot and food is a central aspect of my social life, I will compromise and eat ovo-lacto-vegetarian on occasion. I'm clean and tidy, and I don't smoke. I have a severe phobia of dogs, and the mistrust I have for dog-lovers makes dog experiences a nightmare for me. Please don't ever invite me to places with dogs. As a typical boy from São Paulo, I'm a master navigator of huge urban areas.

And I love singing acappella as I walk alone.

Would it be embarassing to say I'm an edge-walker who loves being center-stage? ;)

PHILOSOPHY

I've shifted shape and size many times over, but it just doesn't work to be anything other than myself.

If
(Rudyard Kipling)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Through CS I have become a grassroots community organiser. After divorce two years ago, I moved abroad again and sort of took a long break from Couchsurfing. It was a pity, but I needed the break, and to cultivate old friendships. It is my firm intention to come back to the family. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First and foremost, Couchsurfing is teaching me things I had never given much importance to. Namely, how to filter and select your social circle, setting and dealing with limits, respect and authenticity. I'm also discovering a lot about my own personal gifts.

I've shared meals, languages, language lessons, music, music lessons, dance, food, alcohol, confessions, profound questions, yoga, tourist traps, secret gardens, laughter, flame wars, sex, Free Hugs and Gay Pride with people I've met in Couchsurfing.

Interests

Mostly: Big Cities, Cosmopolitanism, Languages, Music, Art, Cinema, Theatre, Creativity & Creative Recovery, Stories, Folklore, Argentine Queer Tango, Gay Saunas, LGBT Culture 'n lifestyle, the Radical Faerie movement, the Celts, Psychology, Alternative Spirituality, Yoga, Tantra, Meditation, Tarot, Divination, Tensegrity, Vegetarianism, Veganism, Foreign Cuisines, Crafternoons, DIY, Edupunk. But anything that doesn't require too much concentration or doesn't involve Calculus and sick politics will keep me busy for many days. It's remarkably easy to get me going.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I've probably read too many books throughout my life, but the authors who have stayed by me through the years are Abraham-Hicks, Julia Cameron, Osho, Andrew Ramer, Richard Bach, Jamie Sams, Starhawk, Hans Christian Andersen and Sonia Hirsch.

Movies: The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister, El Laberinto del Fauno, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Brokeback Mountain, Fight Club, Finding Nemo, A Little Princess, and many others. I like especially films with inspiring messages, dreamsome aesthetics and grandiose music.

Music: Folk, Punk, Lied, Classical Singing, Celtic, Trance, Gothic, Neofolk, Celtic, Adult Alternative, Glam Rock, Rock'n Roll, Tango. But I'll listen to anything live that's not too dull or tiresome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A Radical Faerie gathering in the breathtaking Austrian Alps, Yoga teacher training in the foothills of the Himalayas, Storytelling to 200 neopagans in São Paulo, Summer in Berlin, Pride in Köln, Europride amidst the archaeological remains of Rome, Europride in Zürich (under a lesbian mayor!), New Year's Eve in Brazil, Richard Sierra's "Matters of Time", Music variety, allotments and organic gardens in Wales, vegetarian gatherings in several places, self-teaching languages, falling in love fearlessly several times.

Teach, Learn, Share

Vegetarian recipes, Foreign Cuisines, Baking, Shamanism, Creative Recovery, Singing, Music, Piano, Keyboard, Fiddle, Storytelling, Myth, Oral narrative, Writing, Creative Writing, Creativity, Dance, Tango, Swing, Tantra, Trancework, Self-coaching, Personal Growth, Songwriting, Drum magic, Labyrinths, Divination, Psychic Readings, Tarot, Yoga, Meditation, Alexander Technique.

I love teaching people dubbed "learning-impaired", or "tone-deaf", or "challenged" or whatever nonsense. Everybody can and should learn anything that makes their heart sing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will cook an awesome vegan meal (I take requests!), teach a custom Yoga class, give Reiki, tell stories, listen and make music together.

I would love a recipe from them in my notebook!
