About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Writing My Way Around The World

ABOUT ME

I'm a writer and painter that's been traveling the world in search of adventure, inspiration, and stories. There have been ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade a moment of it for anything. I hope to continue as such as long as I can.

I'm less concerned about where I sleep than making sure I enjoy the culture, sights, sounds, tastes, and smells around me.

Life's about living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thus far, all of my experiences with CS have been fully cool and I plan on continuing to be an active member of the CS community.

Cheers!

Interests

Film making, wine, painting, languages, anthropology, futbol/soccer, music, art history, quality beer, exotic people and places, tattoos, films, literature (magical realism, SF/F, slipstream, etc,.)...

There's almost no time in my life where I'm not researching something - usually for one of my writing projects. For instance, right now I have ongoing research in Aztec and Navajo mythology and culture, deep sea life, and a slew of astro-physics concepts. Usually my brain is tired by the end of the day.

My writing is primarily fiction, both short stories and novels, and has been published in a variety of places. My painting focuses on a variety of forms, though fantasy art and photo-realism are my specialties.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling has given me some amazing experiences, overwhelmingly good, with a few dodgy times in between, but that's why nothing can replace getting out on the road and seeing what will happen. A couple of random examples of experiences that would never have happened had I not got up from the couch and went out into the world...
...being pounced on by a 300Ib jaguar...
...researching orchids in a Caribbean cloud forest...
...swimming with 16ft giant black caimans...
...getting robbed by Bolivian men with machine guns...
...avoiding a dynamite explosion in a street protest...
...hunting for and finding a giant anaconda...
...being part of a TV show in Scotland...
...diving with 30 gigantic sea turtles...
...exploring Maya ruins on my own...
...

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I am traveling at the moment, I would be very open to sharing any information about anywhere I've traveled for those who are headed there. Also, as a writer and artist, I'd certainly help anyone who is seeking advice in either area.

Further, I've worked as an ESL instructor, so I am always happy to work with someone on their language skills.
