About Me

Born and raised in Oslo Norway, currently working as a freelance journalist, photographer and travel writer. I live on a boat - a semi-traditional Norwegian sloop - at the wonderful peninsula of Bygdøy. It might be a 20 minute bus ride from downtown and a fifteen minute walk from the station, but what it lacks in central location it more than makes up for in scenery and atmosphere. If time and weather permits, we might take the rowboat out fishing, take a dip at the beach or just hang around on deck. If I'm working, however, it might not be much more than a place to stay for a night. I never accept guests for more than two nights, keep that in mind when you request staying with me. And If you only ask for one, the chance is even greater that i will say yes;)

In any case - after 30 years of living in Oslo - I'm more than happy to provide information, directions, warnings and recommendations.

You could probably find more spacious and comfortable accommodation than my boat, but I doubt there´s a prettier location anywhere in Oslo. No matter the forecast, be prepared for a variety of weather.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has taken me to some wonderful, weird, sometimes scary places - but along the way i´ve learned that there´s no better way to understand and experience a new destination than through its locals.

Teach, Learn, Share

I´m a proud ambassador for Norways national dish, Faarikaal. I've been making it and exposing it to the world for over 10 years, and if possible - you´ll get to experience it too. It´ll change your life. Here´s how.

Take a big casserole.
Take a lot of lamb. Chunks of leg, fresh, with bone.
Take a lot of cabbage. The normal kind. Dice it.
Take a lot of salt.
Take a lot of pepper. Whole pepper.
Boil everything for seven hours on low heat.
Don't eat it.
Wait for 24 hours.
Warm it up again.
Eat it.
Serve with potatoes and Norwegian akevitt
