About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Well: I was raised in a nice, secluded New England suburb, and the world only seemed to open itself up to me not long ago.

I have a terrible habit of making obtuse videogame references during moments of intimacy. I don't eat meat, but I can't make it through more than five pages of any vegetarian treatise. My father and I never had anything to talk about until I started drinking.

I think we should be friends.

PHILOSOPHY

There's a lot of us people. Best not to expect too much or too little!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My first CouchSurfing experience was an old-fashioned two-month novelty trip across Europe - except I've got next to no interest in tourism and get terribly lonely without anyone to talk to. CouchSurfing is what made it all worthwhile for me; thenceforth I hosted a couple of folks while I was in college, and am now living in Vancouver under newly spacious conditions. In the true vagabond academic spirit, I mostly travel for conferences these days, and can finally host again, so long as I'm in town!

Interests

Chickpeas, Postmodernism, Beer, Etymology, Arthouse videogames, Achewood, Bed and breakfast murder mystery weekends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll fix up your computer while I'm staying with you!

Also, I'm pretty handy at most recipes that have beans in them (I eat fish, but nothing that had legs, because when I first got on the vegetarian bandwagon, overfishing wasn't quite as disastrous, and now I'm a contradiction who really likes sushi). I don't really cook anything that doesn't have cumin in it. Except beer. I make beer. Cumin got into the beer once, and that was sort of an issue.

Meanwhile, a lingustics degree has given me the ability to proudly butcher more than SIX languages!
