About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to learm, to expand my set of life experiences, and to meet new people.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy trying news things: sailing, swing dancing, belly dancing, theatre tech, learning the drums, dabbling in computer and human languages… I enjoy learning.
I enjoy meeting interesting people and beautiful places, and I find that the two often go hand-in-hand.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life. Laugh. Be thankful. Laugh some more. Try to cause more benefit to others than harm to others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

An experience that I cherish is from when I taught English (as a second language) and Math to a woman from Eretria for two days a week for a semester. She and her children had come to the US as refugees from civil war. She had endured more obstacles than anyone else I’ve met, and yet she smiled more sincerely, and interacted with more enthused engagement than anyone else I’d ever seen. At the time I was a bit of a nerdy kid, with blue hair and silly taste in apparel, but she treated me with respect and gratitude for my teaching her, which in turn made me feel bashful for receiving such a giving sentiment from such an incredibly strong, vibrant person. At the end of the semester one of her sons was graduating highschool, and she invited me to the family celebration. The honor has stuck with me many years afterwards. Her willingness to be open, engaging, and freely willing to be a loving person is a model I use for engaging with others today.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a decent laborer and 'handy-man'. I can teach a little bit of east-coast swing and beginning steps for lindey hop. I can teach English.
