About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet new people and see new places and learn as much as I can about this wonderful world we share
ABOUT ME
I'm currently living in DC and working in public health research. I love to laugh. And I love learning - about people, places, history, culture, everything - but I haven't taken the opportunity to get out and explore as much as I'd like. A brief experience with being abroad recently has given me a taste of what's out there, and I'd love to experience it either through surfing myself or getting to host fellow travel-minded spirits! I'm quite shy and often reserved, but I feel that's all the more reason for me to push my boundaries and take advantage of what life has to offer. :)
PHILOSOPHY
To quote Dazed and Confused (the movie, not the song): "I'd like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor, insignificant preamble to something else." Life's too short to keep planning for the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I've hosted more than I've surfed (and neither as much as I'd like), and I love it!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Everyone I've met through this community has been absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to meet even more people!

Music, Movies, and Books
Oy. So much to choose from.
Movies/TV: I love anything Miyazaki, documentaries, anything comic book-related (I love Batman), and I have a special place in my heart for crappy 90s teen movies. Oh. And Doctor Who.
Music: Current top 5 artists on Spotify - Alt-J, Portugal. The Man, Young Fathers, Shakey Graves, and Yeasayer
Books: too hard to pick, but I love The Count of Monte Cristo, as well as the Harry Potter and LOTR series...my favorite authors (for now) are Jane Austen, China Mieville, Brandon Sanderson, Margaret Atwood and Jhumpa Lahiri
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I couldn't find a job after graduation, I bought a ticket to New Zealand to fulfill my dream of working on farms in NZ! (Weird dream, I know.) The trip was far too short, but it was amazing to meet so many wonderful people, both local and fellow travelers, and it only made me want to travel even more!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm an academic, but I experience life through food. Share my kitchen with me? I make a mean peanut butter cookie (as well as an assortment of boozy confections) :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Really, I will cook for you.
Countries I’ve Visited
Brazil, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand
