Overview
About Me
My name is Alex Zimmerman.
I was born and raised in Alaska, the wilderness is my home.
I am free-loving, easy-going, open-minded, & spontaneous.
Music is a big part of who I am. I am very musically inclined, switching between instruments such as clarinet, violin, guitar, ukulele, and the darbuka drum.
I love the sun, the moon, and astrology.
I LOVE to LOVE, and my favorite part about life is learning. I respect people, young & old, and I absolutley enjoy animals & nature.
I've worked with the BLM, Park Service, & Forest Service for 3 years, building & constructing flow trails for bikers and runners. I've been a tour guide for another 2+ summers, once on a tour boat with the glaciers & whales here in Alaska, another as a zip-line guide, and another as a river guide. I enjoy showing people the beauty where I grew up. It brings peace to my soul, capturing the joy in tourists eyes of the wonderful place I get to call home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the most amazing thing I've accomplished is leaving Alaska, for the first time last year. I bought a one way ticket, flew out to Maui, completely all by myself, not knowing anyone there. It was a huge leap, I stayed and worked on a flower farm for 2 weeks, until I ended up finding myself living on the beach with nothing but a sleeping bag. It was scary, lonely, exciting, wild, & amazing, all in one!
I met people who had similar stories on why they were there, and became comfortable with the Aina and the way of Aloha.
It definitely made me who I am today.
I am more confident, independent and ready for whatever is thrown my way!
