escape from a life of provinciality
ABOUT ME
Hello all! I'm a recent graduate from Chicago, IL and I'm staying in China for the summer, bumming around at my dad's place in Chongqing, and hopefully travelling around loads of other places in China while trying to finagle myself a job in London, UK or elsewhere in Europe (fingers crossed). I love hiking in the mountains in China, partying until dawn, exploring museums, and pretending to pick up new languages.
PHILOSOPHY
Try everything at least once, learn everything I can, and spend as much time out of doors as possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm travelling through China right now, and very eager to meet fellow CSers!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed while studying abroad this past fall! It was awesome! So much better than staying at a hotel or hostel...
Interests
I studied biology and English at university, but my academic interests also extend to history, international relations, and foreign languages. I love reading (obviously), writing poetry (poorly), and photographing interesting people and places.
Some of my other interests include dancing, playing piano, yoga, hiking, and cooking. Quality of cooking is debatable.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music tastes vary greatly - Putting my iPod on shuffle is usually a pretty interesting experience because I listen to so many different genres. Current favourites include Pixies, Cat Power, Shakira, Porcupine Tree, the XX, deadmau5, the Smiths, and Wilco. Oh, and living in London has also recently opened my mind to house and dubstep =)
I enjoy many, many movies and books. Off the top of my head, my favourite movie is probably "Closer". My favourite book is definitely "The Blind Assassin" by Margaret Atwood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watched the sun rise over a snowy mountain range in Yunnan, China while drinking yak yogurt, in the company of several donkeys. Cliff-diving into the Atlantic Ocean in Wales.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to make really awesome smoothies. Also how to use an SLR camera and Photoshop. And I can show you how to fold origami lilies and roses. And if that's enough, I've got plenty more tricks up my sleeve, I'm sure...
