About Me

I think the most difficult thing to do is write an “about me”. But, I’ll try my best. I think the main things are: I was born and raised in Nottingham. I’m an only child. I currently work as part of the Medical Disciplinary Team in a Psychiatric Hospital. I’m from a Pakistani background. I was the vice-president of the Soup Runner’s society whilst I was at university, and since graduating, have been trying to continue this work in Nottingham. I first began travelling independently as part of university initiatives such as VESA, where I went to Fiji to teach at a school there for a couple of weeks, and alongside MAP, where I went to Palestine and Syria to work with refugee’s and support them using my Psychological training.

I enjoy sports - I run a Badminton club at a local community centre on the weekend for locals to attend. I spent three years playing Lacrosse whilst at university, and have taken up Archery recently (I just want to be like Oliver Queen guys - except for the whole marooned and tortured on an island thing).

I am currently conducting research on Mental Health within the BME communities, and why the reporting numbers are low in these communities - if you would like to take part in an interview, feel free to message me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy travelling, but struggle with creating self itineraries of things to do - because there’s always so much culture to take in. I use couchsurfing to get first hand information from people who live in the countries I am travelling to, so I have a slight idea of where to go whilst I’m there.

I’ve always believed that the best way to grow as a human being is to experience as much of the world as possible; whether it’s through travelling, human interactions or research. There is so much culture, and there are so many hidden treasures to experience, and it’s always helpful when there’s someone there to guide you through it - and share their expertise with you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked alongside Medical Aid for Palestine, and travelling to support refugee’s with their mental health and resettling into new environments.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can’t really think of a talent I have, other than being able to read upside down. I can teach you that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think I’m open to new experiences. Unless it includes escalators. I hate those.
