PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had the chance to surf with a few people over the last couple of years, and all of them have been really awesome experiences - I love getting involved with the life of a new place by staying or hanging out with someone who lives there, instead of just passing through a hostel. I'm finally living in a real apartment and not a dorm so looking forward to hosting some people as well!

Interests

Books, and reading/writing things in general! I spend a lot of time in bookstores and libraries.

Music - I play violin and guitar and sing, and I'm always down to jam out. I'm also always listening to music and looking for new stuff.

Sports - I played rugby for UChicago and love skiing, and do a few others (climbing, running, tennis, martial arts...) on the side

Travel - duh! A lot of what I like about reading is that it can open your eyes to other points of view, and travel can do the same thing, just from your own perspective.

Some randomly selected favorites - Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Sublime, RHCP, Allman Brothers, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, The Strokes, Spoon, The Doors, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Chance the Rapper, Hilltop Hoods, Megadeth, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Chopin, Stravinsky

Some of my favorite authors are Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Orwell, Bukowski, Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, Gregory David Roberts, and Cormac McCarthy

Some of my favorite movies are Fight Club, Lost in Translation, Midnight in Paris, The Descendants, The Lives of Others, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lucky Number Slevin, and 500 Days of Summer

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most recent wow moment was the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the architecture all over the old part of the city is really awesome.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to help out with computer skills, guitar, violin, a bunch of sports, and the languages I know
