About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn about Urban Permaculture and community building. Finding and participating in some existing projects that are in line with my interests and ethics as a permaculture activist.

ABOUT ME

I like good company, good food and good music. If I have those three things I'm a fat cat laughing. If you like these things too, you're alright in my books.
I have been working seasonally and traveling for the past 4 years or so. Planting trees in the spring, working on farms, picking fruit in the summers and falls and traveling/studying all winter. When I find somewhere I like, I tend to stay for a while.
I'm a permaculture geek. love to talk about growing a better world, healthier communities and healthier people. I grow food everywhere I go and plan to continue doing so in the future.
Right now I am looking for Permaculture inspired projects to work. Anything that is working on creating a more sustainable and accessible world for all. Especially interested in projects aiming for active and creative change in an environmental-sustainable activist vibe.
I love to hear and make music. I have a mandolin with me now, am always drumming on anything within reach and have played saxophone (extensively) and accordion an banjo (briefly) in the past.
I love to dance and am always looking for more dancers to rock out with. I love learning new dances and enjoy the general shaking of booty.
I work with my hands a lot and like DIY projects of all kinds. Some things I've gotten into would include: brewing wine, beer and cinders, keeping chickens, gardening, sprouting and fermenting, cooking, sculpting and general craftmakin', building with natural materials, foraging for wild foods, building and maintaining bicycles and a lot of other things that I can't think of at the moment. I'm always looking to learn new crafts if y'all have any to share and love to share what I know!

PHILOSOPHY

In this little blurb I can say that I base my beliefs on mutual aid and respect. If you can dig that, we can talk about it in far greater detail over a beer or tea at some point.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, I surf, I connect, I share. I like to help folks out who are travelling any time that I can and like to feel like I am being helpful and useful to folks who are hosting me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have Surfed and Hosted quite a bit throughout North America and Mexico. I have had a whole lot of great ties, met a whole lot of great people and plan to continue doing so! Couch surfing is almost always a great experience. Hospitality is a social institution that is ever so important and all too often neglected or forgotten these days.

Interests

permaculture, organic gardenin, urban farming, ecological design, renewable energy sources, climbing, treking, sailing, bread making, fermenting, cooking, DIY projects, political science, international development, music, good books good food and so much more... i am always looking to learn new skills. I think everyone has something to share and teach.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sooooo many books....dang! I have been focusing a lot on practical skills and non fiction about political, environmental and cultural matters in my reading. I dig fantasy and scifi when it comes to fiction but don't limit myself entirely to fighting dragons and exploring far away worlds. Vonnegut and Robbins rock my socks. Always looking for new books to read.
Movies can be great too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked over the arctic ocean in July.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a lot about organic gardening and permaculture. building food forests, intensive gardens, raising small livestock. I can share a lot about tree planting in Canada. I can share some about cooking but i'd rather learn haha! I can share what I know about brewing, bread making and general fermenting. I can share some about playing the madolin, banjo, accordion or saxophone. I can share some about political theory and sustainable development, whatever that's worth... i can teach you how to light a match off your teeth open a beer with just about anything and uncork a bottle of wine with a boot. I can teach a few good card games and how to tie a few knots.
