ABOUT ME
So this profile is for both Dan Lipert, and me, Laura Andrews. Even though it says Dan's name up there, I'm the one who maintains our page mostly. Just pointing this out so you don't get confused by our profile. We started our own company a couple years ago and spend most of our time working on that.. but in our free time we both love working on art projects. Dan is more into electronic media and music, while I'm (Laura) more interested in costumes, fashion and fiber art. We both love cooking, video games, and bicycling to name a few things :)And I'm sure there is a lot that I forgot to mention.. Reading our references will probably give you a good idea about who we are as well!
PHILOSOPHY
Laura: "Do you believe in something beautiful? Then get up and be it."
Dan watches cartoons, such as Looney Tunes, under the impression that it is a nature show.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We spread the word about couchsurfing as much as we can and always recommend that people try it out. We love to tell stories of the great people we've met in our travels as well as from hosting.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We moved to Portland in 2008, and have since hosted all sorts of great people from all over the world! In the fall of 2009 we lived in Japan for a few months and did some couchsurfing for about a month. And after returning to Portland we hosted guests pretty regularly!Also... we have a 'terrible curse' that everyone who couchsurfs with us in Portland ends up moving to the city.... :)

Music, Movies, and Books
We both really like documentaries and lectures. Lately we have been into Vice News.As for music, we have pretty different tastes. Dan is into electronic music (like house, Detroit techno, chiptunes). I like electronic music (house, tech house, minimal), Japanese music (like Perfume, Towa Tei, M-flo), and indie rock (like Ted Leo, Rilo Kiley, Stars). And then there are the songs I like to sing at karaoke :)Dan's favorite book is Walden. My favorite book is The Forest People by Colin Turnbull.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the fall of 2009, we traveled to Japan together and lived in Tokyo for three months. We stayed with friends in Togoshi-Ginza, had an apartment in Setagaya for awhile, and then couchsurfed around Tokyo Bay for our last month. It was incredible experience and we met so many amazing people along the way. We can't wait to go back or get the opportunity to host our friends from Japan in Portland.
Teach, Learn, Share
This is definitely our favorite part about couchsurfing! We love learning about anything that our guests or hosts want to share with us.I'm a pretty good cook/baker and seamstress and I would be happy to teach you about those things! I could also teach some basic stuff about knitting and crochet.Dan would be happy to share his knowledge about programming and things like that. He's a pretty good cook too!
