Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Albert, I grew up in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, after studying in Toronto for my undergraduate degree, I attended law school in Kamloops, British Columbia and eventually worked in Vancouver as a corporate lawyer at a national law firm for over 4 years.
I've recently decided that I need a career break and so am taking a year off to travel Canada, and the rest of the world including China and South East Asia.
I'm a foodie, book worm, art lover and board game geek!
I'll try any food twice. Some of my favourite authors are Paulo Coelho, Gabor Mate, Liu Cixin, Napoleon Hill and Rutger Bregman. Recently I've been reading more Science Fiction and short stories. I love to look at paintings, sculptures and of course, weird and wacky conceptual "art" (if you can call it that). I enjoy spending time with friends playing games like Settlers of Catan, Scythe and Galaxy Trucker and am always up to learning a new game and making new friends. Ask me about "the Best Game Ever"!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Here to meet locals and other travelers! Seeing the highlights and tourist destinations are great, but getting to connect with other people who are from the area or other travelers who are also seeing things for the first time is enriching as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all sort of music, but cannot say no to good old(ish) rock an roll, Incubus, Green Day, AC/DC and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
When I'm not rocking out, Jack Johnson is on in the background as is Jazz, some up and coming folkie tunes.
I'm always down for some live music, and can probably strum a guitar to some basic cords.
I am a big fan of Guy Ritchie movies like Snatch and Rock'n Rolla. Other favourites include include Ocean's 11, Big Daddy and as of late, the Dune Trilogy!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Before law school, in the summer of 2016 I rode my (non-electric) bike from Guelph, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. I cycled for about 2500km over about 25 days. Survived off mostly peanut butter, banana's, carrot sticks, tune and while in Quebec and New Brunswick, cretons!
In university, my best friend and embarked on a "Survivorman" camping trip for three nights on a lake in Ontario with only a bag of muffin mix and some multi tools to see if we could find our own food and make our own shelters. Ask me about how we learned why it the lake was call "Swamp Lake".
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to teach anything I'm competent to discuss, whether it be some basic legal information on how corporations and stock exchanges in Canada work, or maybe some advanced Microsoft excel skills, or the latest cool websites I am discovering from browsing reddit forums.
I'd love to learn about you! What do you eat, listen to and watch? What turned you onto couch surfing? What travel adventures have you been on? Where in the world is under rated and worth a visit? What about traveling have changed you?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook, so if you would like some help in the kitchen don't hesitate to ask. I've found I can be good at the art of "using up what's in the fridge" to make something delicious!
In university I owned and operated a home maintenance business and can be handy with ladders and pressure washers.
