About Me

🫶 Hi there! With summer here, we’re getting lots of messages and visits. It’s a bit tough to host everyone. When messaging, kindly share why you’d like to visit us specifically. We appreciate your understanding!

Hi, I'm 28 years old artist and engineer. Grew up in Moscow, lived in many countries, and based in London nowadays. We can always discuss how to exit the matrix, what is going on with humanity, great products and designs, AI, nature, and million other topics. I love deep connections and topics about emotions and feelings. I like to enter a psychedelic state of mind (for example, I did a Vipassana retreat multiple times)

Some moments of my life I capture in my Instagram account: https://instagram.com/alzimin/
You can always contact me via Telegram: https://t.me/azimin

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to visit new places and meet new friends. Also, I want to meet people with different stories, backgrounds, and visions, so Couchsurfing is where many of them exist (like online Burning Man). Nowadays, we have a free room, so it's an excellent opportunity to provide travelers with a place to stay.

Interests

As part of my life, I like to combine design and development, I think a great product must be user-friendly and look great. One of my applications (this one for macOS): https://muna.live
I'm currently switching to art: I like to do some gen art, explore new formats and find new depth.
Finding a deep connection with people (doing shared meditations, talking about emotions, feeling the body) is something I started to practice in recent years.
What about sports - I prefer mounting hiking, skiing, yoga classes, and swimming.
In my free time, I take part in different activities. For example, my best friend likes to shoot videos, and I am glad to participate in the process.
In addition, I like reading fiction and psychology books.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a large range of music preferences (and trying to listen to different playlists rather than artists), some of the bands and musicians I like: Pink Floyd, Kino, Django Django, Noize MC, Dire Straits, RHCP, Anacondaz, Moby, Hans Zimmer, alt-J, Swedish House Mafia, Bloodhound Gang.
You can check my Spotify Daily Mixes here: https://open.spotify.com/user/22r76wtzgqnzki3evtc3qjxoy

I like all Christopher Nolan movies, and my favorite is Interstellar (the only movie I gave 10/10, I think each word is in the right place in this movie).
Also, my favourite movies are The Great Gatsby, Donnie Darko, Life, Climax, Midsommar, Uncut Gems, Grand Budapest, Mr. Nobody.
I really love cartoon series, such as Rick And Morty, Midnight Gospel, Solar Opposites, Love, Death & Robots.
Sometimes I like to watch movies like Back to the Future, Home Alone, Ready Player One, and so on.
You can find movies I watched and their scores here (not complete collection): https://mustapp.com/@azimin

My favorite books in different sections:
Smart: Eliezer Yudkowsky "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality."
Deep: Hermann Hesse "Siddhartha".
Learn a lot about people: Seth Stephens-Davidowitz "Everybody Lies: Big Data, New Data, and What the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are", Yuval Noah Harari "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind".

Also I like dystopias like Arkady and Boris Strugatsky "Prisoners of Power" or George Orwell "1984".
While I was young, I was expired by "The Catcher in the Rye" novel by J. D. Salinger and "Demian" book by Hermann Hesse.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Conquered the mountain Elbrus (5642 meters) at the age of 13.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could always share my knowledge about any topic I know: startups, mobile development, tech world, blockchain, what is Burning Man and why everyone needs to visit it, why mountain hiking is the best thing you can do, my experience with psychedelics, how to live in different countries, how to do UI design, my experience of meditation and Vipassana, and so on :)

We can do some mindfulness practices together.

And if you are going to visit London (UK) – I would be glad to help you with anything (if I am there) or will tell you what to visit and contact my friends there. Also, we can host you in our apartment.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all, I like to give lectures and teach, so If you are interested in IT or graphical design - we could always find what to talk abound, and I will be glad to share some knowledge.
I'm happy to do mindfulness practices together or share my experience with meditation, traveling, and so on.
I really like to discuss humanity, the brain, psychology, productivity, and where we are going :)
But if you want to discuss anything else, I would be happy to share my knowledge from one field applying to another; my favorite part is to learn something new and find interrelation with things I know.

Also, I am a good listener and narrator ;)
