About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I've done 30+ by 30...so I'm just going to keep exploring, one country at a time!
ABOUT ME
My name is Connie. I graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2009 with a triple major in Socio-Cultural Anthropology, Asian American Studies, and Spanish. I received my Masters in Teaching Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2017. I worked as an elementary school English teacher in South Korea for two years and did some extensive traveling, but I've been back in California for the last 9 years. I am currently a primary school teacher. I am a hard worker who believes that you should experience life, not simply exist in it. It's only when you take chances that opportunities come your way...one of the reasons why I love to travel... I adapt well to new surroundings and I LOVE to meet people. I'm passionate about life and what goes on in the world. I love learning about new cultures, new places, and...sometimes the hidden politics behind everything. On the lighter side, sometimes I can have such random moments where almost nothing seems to make sense, so you simply have to laugh. Life is funny. Sometimes it can be the best thing in the world, and sometimes the worst, but the important thing is that you learn from your experiences...
PHILOSOPHY
Your identity is like a personal shadow...no matter where you travel to, you will always be you.
Living life...one country at a time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to explore the world and to understand different cultures through the eyes of locals (or the people that live there). :-)
I am currently back to hosting after a short hiatus!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I received many requests from people to surf my couch in Davis, California, but only two actually showed up! I hosted nine (official) couchsurfers in Guri, South Korea. I hosted some people when I was living in Alameda, Emeryville, and San Leandro, CA before I moved to Fremont. Now I'm back to hosting in Daly City. I've surfed on many couches around the world through CS and most have been super awesome experiences!!! Not only that, but I've met up with lots of people through couchsurfing for meet-ups, drinks, intercambios, and such. Check out my pictures!
I have had over a decade of experience with CouchSurfing and I’ve seen it change a lot. A lot of people now are just contacting me for a free place to crash versus actually getting to know the culture and the people. Some people don't even READ my profile, yet they request my couch.
So in an attempt to combat this, I urge you to add in your couch requests "NOT FREELOADING” and include something from my profile if you want to show me that you at least read about the person you are attempting to stay with.
I also consider guests that have a more COMPLETE profile better than guests that don't make an effort to fill in their profiles or who sign up and on the same day and start requesting a couch IMMEDIATELY without proper profiles or sometimes even without profile pics. This is not safe to me or my home!
Couchsurfing is a great way to meet many international friends and learn about another person’s culture if you do it right!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was younger, I would never have imagined traveling so much before I hit 30...that in itself is an accomplishment for me...
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn new languages!
And...I can teach you how to travel without breaking the bank. :-) I'm pretty good at finding local deals.
