About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out what is next.

ABOUT ME

I am a 27 year old indecisive Canadian. So, I guess that means that I don't worry about what is next – it is what it is. I like to think that I am spontaneous, but sometimes I also like to settle for a few months to figure myself out. While I love languages and the cultures that go along with it, I also like to play sports, just as much as I like to have a drink. I am from a dairy farm in the sticks, NOW finished with my master's degree; I don't really conform to the expected stereotype.

PHILOSOPHY

If you want something go for it. You may not be the best, but you are not the worst. Many people didn't even try because thought they were good enough. Have a little confidence in yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience with Couchsurfing involved: 2 hilarious Couchsurfers, 3 wigs, 4 injuries, 1 hitchhiking competition from Dresden to Prague, 2 great hosts and an absurd amount of free drinks. Strangely, enough we never finished the competition, we ended up in Berlin NOT Prague. I was not surprised at the craziness that ensued, as it normally does with these two particular Couchsurfers... We stayed with an awesome host who was a Police Officer, as well as a very relaxed university student. Berlin was a blast and Prague is now at the top of my list of places to visit -- I still haven't made it to Prague.

Interests

Many. I didn't list them, but I am learning to speak quite a few languages, including Russian, Italian, Spanish, Thai and Nepali. If there is a language that someone speaks and they are interested in teaching me, I will take the opportunity to learn it. I love good food, good wine and good beer, but not necessarily in that order. I also like to exercise.

Music, Movies, and Books

Last book I read/re-read: The Stranger by Albert Camus.
Current book: The Roots of Civilization by Abdullah Öcalan.
Next book: ??? (I am open to suggestions)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Making friends with people from all over the world and going to visit them in their homes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have studied political science and development, worked in (I)NGOs and cultural studies. I have a very strong background in Russian language and culture. I love to cook and each place I have lived, I have learned to cook something else. I studied wine tasting at college, not just in college, like everyone else. I also know about cows. :D
