À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

An amazing cross-country road trip.

ABOUT ME

I'm a preciously precocious, socially just, literary-minded, blind-sided raucous news junkie with a solid beer and cheese habit. I also love dancing with cloud dogs.

PHILOSOPHY

I hope to live an environmentally sustainable life. Volunteer with helping children use their creative writing skills. Promote the truth in my work.

BTW, you can call me Becky.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love Las Vegas! I will share the love with you. We have endlessly superior food, breathtaking desert vistas and a kick-ass night life. Not to mention the best dive bars this side of the MISSISSIPPI. And you will play a hand of black jack.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I taught in South Korea for a year (2007-2008) and was able to save up enough money to travel around the world. I hit North Korea for a day (I know), Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto), Thailand (Bangkok and Chiang-mai), Greece (Athens and the coast), Italy (Venice and Florence) and, finally, Paris, a life-long dream. I've since returned to the states, got a job, got laid off from my job, started freelancing and then entered grad school where I am drinking my way to literary sobriety. This summer I worked at a literary magazine in Pittsburgh.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

My favorites: The Coen brothers, Quentin Tarantino, Nolan...
Music: indie, alternative, soul and folk. I'm on a Dangermouse kick. I also love the Avett Brothers and OutKast.
Books: I'm reading "Then We Came to the End;" a Korean history book; "The New Kings of Nonfiction;" "Matilda," and "A Room of One's Own." Not to mention all the LP travel books!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Traveled all over the U.S. I studied theater and history in Richmond, VA for a year. Went to New York and D.C. several times. I've worked as a journalist in Nevada for five years. I've spent the last year living and teaching in South Korea. I've freelanced in Vegas for about two years. I just completed a literary internship in Pittsburgh. I'll be joining the Peace Corp in 2011 as part of my MFA program.
