About Me
Hey,
My name is Bastien, I grew up in France and I'm 27 now. I've been moving around a lot for about 6 years now, studying in Leipzig, Germany, then working in Vienna, Austria, hitch-hiking around Europe, planning trips to South America that never happened..
In the 3 past years I've lived truly empowering adventures within a collective of fellow nomads, La Caravane Intergalactique, travelling in France and Spain and sharing knowledge and experiences revolving around autonomy and true care and respect in human relationships.
I've also spent 1 year sailing in Brittany (Concarneau), more recently purchased a 40y-o sailboat which I'm fixing and is my floating house, and now I'm very enthusiastic about sharing this knowledge I have of navigation and fixing boats..
I'm currently in the process of learning sailmaking as a proper job, which I hope will bring more autonomy and new experiences in my sailing life, alongside a little of money, maybe :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I travel around a lot, I like making friends and human contact. I deeply trust in the power of hospitality networks and the potential for nomadism in modern society.
Interests
Sailing and sailmaking are the 2 main focuses in my everyday life for this winter. I'd love to hitch to southern Spain at some point maybe in January as some of my friends will spend the winter there
I'd also like to transform a trailer caravan into a raft moved with sails and rows to travel on the canal duMidi between Sète and Toulouse next spring.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
not lost the enjoyment and satisfaction I find living on the road, on a budget, precariously, always learning and sharing, after some years of that demanding lifestyle :)
I wouldn't have thought myself capable of this when I started and this is a very satisfying result
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach sailing, fixing boats, uilding bamboo yurts, basics of electricity and wiring, a lot of travelling tips and dumpsterdiving techniques
Learn Spanish, sailmaking, how to harvest olives and make oil
Share good talks, a place to sleep on my boat when I'm there, and life on the road :)
