ABOUT ME

I am currently a nurse midwife in a birth center outside of Philadelphia. I live with my boyfriend, Nate, who is a free lance artist. He does a lot of everything, but has been doing mold making quite a bit lately. I like to read and knit. I have lots of good birth stories if you're into that kind of thing. I love This American Life and Radio Lab. I am clean and respectful and enjoy meeting new people although I am shy at first.

I am looking for couch surfing opportunities to see the world and meet new interesting people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I only have experiences couch surfing at friends' houses, but a good friend of mine surfs and hosts people from this website and has had lots of good experiences.

TV- I just got hooked on Parks and Rec, which is great.
Books- I think my favorite book would be anything by Tom Robbins. Right now, I am reading The Other End of The Leash, which is about how dogs and humans interact and interpret each other's behavior.
Music- I like most stuff, but gravitate towards more independent music or folk influenced. I have been listening to a lot of Jens Lekman lately.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I went to Costa Rica in the summer of 2010 to volunteer at a sea turtle sanctuary with biologists who tracked the turtles. One night, while we were walking the beach looking for turtles nesting, we found one who had just started to dig the nest. The turtles go into a trance like state while they are laying eggs and don't mind people near them at that point. I got to lie in the sand and catch eggs in a (gloved) hand as they fell into the hole to count how many she laid. It was amazing to be so close to such a huge creature.

I can teach you how to knit, how to make sauerkraut from scratch (it's easy), or how to swaddle a baby really well. I would like to learn to play the banjo and speak spanish a bit, someday.
