About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To not pass up life's opportunities

ABOUT ME

With New York City as my home base, I have sought to make the most of my time on this planet - I love traveling, exploring, meeting new people and learning as much as possible. I currently work for NYC government in the renewable energy sector. My job has given me a great perspective on the City, where I studied at New York University for Public Policy. I love history, art, music, architecture, urban design and planning. I am easy going, considerate, thoughtful, funny and passionate. I love sharing the magic of the city and the joy of traveling with others. I love traveling and I love people!

PHILOSOPHY
Always leave a place better than the way you found it.

Interests

New York City is the love of my life. I spend hours exploring the city, reading about its history, trying new cuisines and immersing myself in this dynamic town. In one day I'm eating dim sum, dodging street vendors, stopping in on an art-opening, buying pickles and vintage hand bags, marveling at the Brooklyn Bridge, practicing my foreign language skills with the international store owners, and drinking with friends at the local bar late into the night. The diversity of the city is amazing and it inspires my travels to other locations around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of rock n roll from the 60s and 70s, britpop and more eclectic modern music. There is a ton of great new music in New York, especially Brooklyn. I also read a lot, mostly nonfiction recently, either about my next travel destination or about New York. I love books about seedy New Yorkers like Weegee "He will take his camera and ride off in search of new evidence that his city, even in her most drunken and disorderly and pathetic moments, is beautiful."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I could list any number of amazing sights - the Himalayan Mountains, the Sahara desert, the Houses of Parliament - but it is really the generosity of others that has left me awestruck. As a frequent solo traveler, I am endlessly amazed at the kindness people have shown to me. People have shared their time, their money, their homes, their language, their meals....and I hope to help reciprocate the hospitality I have seen to the community at Couch Surfing.
