About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to always look on the bright side of life...
ABOUT ME
In 2010 i finished my diploma in psychology in wonderful Salzburg, Austria, where i also did a bit of computer science. Then i started working for a company in Hamburg. I'm doing usability research - as i'm good with people as well as computers i think it's the perfect job for me! Psychology taught me that one of the very few things that distinguishes humanoids from animals is tool making instead of mere tool use, so i believe it's a good thing to help improving tools as much as possible!
...very deep, ain't it? besides, making some money after five years of studying sounds kinda appealing, too! ;)
Actually it's not at all what i've been focusing on during my studies - which was social neuroscience. I did my thesis on "Brain Imaging of Identity Statements" which means: lots of statistical number crunching in order to learn more about parts of the brain that might be involved in our understanding of other people's actions. After three years of focusing on my studies (u might guess it: i had a girlfriend at this time! :D), i kind of wanted to experience the many facettes of being a student and i somehow managed to both finish my studies and party hard at the same time.
During this time i met so many most precious friends but it still feels right to move on and have a short glimpse on at least a few of the many wonderful places on this planet and their people.
PHILOSOPHY
Always look on the bright side of life! Do what you want or die trying! Be good to people! Be passionate about whatever you do!
and most importantly: nobody's perfect! These are ideals - Plato already knew that you never get close to ideals! We can only perceive their imperfect shadows.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My couch is simply too small to host somebody but from time to time there may be a room free in our flat.
i'll try to bring the "bavarian spirit" to the world. You people try really hard but there simply is no better beer than bavarian beer... :D
"lederhosn and laptop" that's what the bavarian spirit is for me. and for the ladies out there: only tourists wear "dirndl" at oktoberfest that don't cover the knees!
my mission definitely is not over yet: those hamburg "fish-heads" (no worries, i love every single one of them!) definitely need some intercultural exchange with the bavarian south. :D
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
some surfing. a lot of partying with CSers
Interests
the only bad thing about playing a piano is that u can't take it with u. so whenever i find a place with a piano i can't resist playing.
i also love juggling - right now i'm learning how to manage four balls at once, anybody who managed already is welcome to train me! i'm not as good as those amazing guys throwing a million knifes at once but i can do quite a few tricks with three balls.
i'm also a bit of a nerd, to be honest. i like computers, i like nerds, i like talking about table tops, role playing games, computer games, programming or the most recent apps for my beloved android phone! proud to be a nerd, folks!
sports are very important to me but i'm not exactly an ace. i tried quite a lot - paragliding, volleyball, pool billard, rock climbing, running - but what really stuck were volleyball, running, pool and tabletop soccer: beachvolleyball is the sexiest, funniest, and most tanning sport ever invented; and tossing around a bunch of balls is someting every guy should be capable of! ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
the most amazing thing i've ever seen is so many people believing in me!
Teach, Learn, Share
i'm a psychologist. psychology is a natural science. i don't believe in esoterics or metaphysics. i believe in cause and effect. everytime natural science advanced over religion, or mere suspicion, it was for the good of mankind. that's what i believe, that's what i can share.
what i want to learn is: how do other people manage to lead a happy and fulfilled life? what drives them, what do they believe in?
