I'm exploring ways of living off the grid. I'm almost there! Actually, I'm in a very comfortable place right now. For the first time in my life I'm experiencing true freedom. I spend a lot of my time helping homeless people in the Springs area. I tend to focus especially on those with bipolar disorder. As a person who suffers, I find it very easy to empathize with the unusual needs of this group. Mostly people in Colorado Springs want Chapstick, toilet paper and to be left the f¿¢k alone. You can count on me to provide any of those you might need.

In 2012, I started a small vintage decor company that I hope to expand over the next few years. My product line tends to focus on primitive and industrial items from the 1910's through the early 1970's. Flea markets and estate sales are my third home.

I also volunteer at a community cafe in Colorado Springs. I have no past restaurant or service industry experience but feel it would be helpful in my retirement. Volunteering this way works well for my lifestyle. I'm able to work a large number of hours in just a couple of days and then maintain the freedom to travel the rest of the week.

I've just excepted a position with a reputable estate sale company in North Texas. For the next year or two I'll only be spending one week each month in Colorado and the rest of my time near Dallas.

Music: anything live, Deftones, Tool, Kyuss, Melvins, Primus, Tori Amos, Johnny Cash, Bring Me The Horizon, Lana DelRay, The Pixies, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Who ...those are some favorites. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Willie Nelson. He seems to deliver some pretty solid love advice.

Movies: Fight Club, Amadeus, Gone With The Wind, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Wall by Pink Floyd. Just watched the Manchurian Candidate for the first time. To me it demonstrated in a chilling way everything I fear wealthy people to be.

Books: atlases, The Universe in a Nut Shell, Astral Dynamics, Little Bee, etc... I'm sure I don't read as diligently as I should. I just never really sit still that long.

Shows: Ted Talks, documentaries, PBS World News, Modern Family, Family Guy, Dexter, Lost, American Horror Story, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Weeds, Antiques Road Show, etc... If it's a series I usually watch it in a couple of weeks. As a habit I watch very little tv.

Radio: All Things Considered, A Prairie Home Companion, Radio Lab, most anything on NPR. I also listen to a lot of classic rock.
