About Me

Hey, I'm Bailey! I just finished my Master's degree in Forest Resources at the University of Georgia. My fiance Will and I are embarking on a 2-month journey through Central America beginning in March. Looking forward to meeting fellow adventurers and travelers!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I lived in Connecticut for my undergrad, my roommate would host Couchsurfers and I met some really awesome, interesting people. I first joined while traveling alone in Chile and had nothing but positive experiences meeting people and spending a few days together. I hosted a few travelers while living in Georgia over the last few years (requests were made through my roommate's account). Now that we (my partner Will and I) will be traveling for a few months in Central America, I am really excited to introduce him to this wonderful, open community of people!

Interests

Hiking, running, weightlifting, rock climbing, cooking, eating, reading, conversation!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mulhacén, the highest peak in the Sierra Nevadas in Spain! That morning on the bus ride to where the hike starts, I got altitude sickness and was light-headed and throwing up the whole ride. I still decided to do the hike and four grueling hours later, made it to the refugio, where I still couldn't keep down any food. So worth the views and experience though!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm fluent in Spanish and love teaching and helping others practice! I also have a lot of environmental and forestry related knowledge which I am always happy to share (and nerd out about). I'm attempting to learn Portuguese and love learning new things in general! While traveling in Central America, I am really interested in getting others' perspectives on life in their own country - what makes them happy, what challenges them, etc. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Knowledge of my country, forestry/environmental knowledge, cooking abilities, and great conversation!
