About Me

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS
Backpacking, skiing, backcountry skiing, sunsets in the desert, snuggling on the couch and watching Planet Earth, picnicking next to high alpine lakes, making and eating tasty food, good strong coffee, good beer, walking around and looking at things...

ABOUT US
Doug and I met at University of Colorado Boulder when we were both studying environmental engineering there. We've been together for 7 years. We moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2016. We married in 2017 and bought our first house in 2018. It has a rad second bedroom and we are excited to have a place where we can host Couchsurfers for the first time in a long while!

Aprendamos Español, gracias por su paciencia! A mi me gustaría aprender y praticar! A veces, usamos palabras del idioma Chileno (como "paltas" en ves de "aguacates"). Espéramos que todavia quieres hablar con nosotros, aunque no hablemos bién.

PHILOSOPHY

Hey Wow, that's a deep question. Here are a few thoughts and feelings (though I don't feel this answers the question fully): happiness, positivity, helping others, leaving what you can more beautiful than you found it...

When Life gives you shit, become a wastewater treatment engineer and get paid to deal with it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I was living in Denver I hosted travelers often and met many of my best friends at CS mixers or by hosting them. We also couch surfed a lot when we spent 4 months in Chile and Argentina.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I loved hosting travelers! I loved meeting new and interesting people, hearing stories, and getting inspiration about where I would want to travel.
But the most surprising benefit of hosting for me was that it made me see and experience my own city in a new way.

I have also loved my experience as a surfer. Any more if I stay in a hotel, it feels cold - as though I am skimming the surface rather than getting to know the people and vibe of a city.

Interests

This is a list of things I love. It only covers a small fraction:

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and movies with great character development!
Books: Monkey Wrench Gang (Ed Abbey), A Confederacy of Dunces (John Kennedy Toole)
Movies: Disney Classics, Princess Bride, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the Colorado Trail - 486 miles from Denver to Durango. Some of my adventures on this trip include: harvesting wild plants when we ran out of food, camping above treeline at 12,600 feet above sea level, running from lots of thunder storms, and meeting wonderful lasting friends

Teach, Learn, Share

I read tarot cards. I love giving readings to anyone who wants one. I also love to cook for people and share my cooking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Doug and I would love to cook a delicious meal! I give great back massages too!
