About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To focus this youthful chaotic energy into some kind of wisdom and inner peace; to become more "humble"

ABOUT ME

I love discovering new cultures, and specially trying new types of food, and different rhythms of lifestyle - to understand how some big masses of people live all their lives in a completely different fashion. I studied to be an actor, writer, and music director/composer and finally theatre director. I am a confident person who's also highly curious and fascinated about people's behaviours. Death and Love are close friends to me. I was a Taekwondo Black Belt 2nd level Instructor once, that helped me a lot to build my confidence. I love life and trying new things out! Getting to know me will be my pleasure!

PHILOSOPHY

"You haven't met yourself yet. But the advantage to meeting others in the meantime is that one of them may present you to yourself.", from the film Waking Life.

"You are me and what I see is you." Pink Floyd in Echoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really like the concept and try to stay close to it by travelling around and hosting whenever I can. Meetings are good initiatives too, thank you to the people who organize them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Travelled, hosted, and going to meetings. Once I put up an group note asking for someone to cut my hair, but no one replied. Still it was an experience I suppose.

Interests

I like going to new places, but I like to keep away from the "tourist" signs, because it usually involves some kind of middle-high class activities (and prices), which in the end resolves in a "decompression" holiday and overwhelms the opportunity to explore the place as a local, as if living in someone else's skin for a few days. Love playing music, singing, having a good time. Love reading philosophy, theatre and history books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I saw a man falling on the floor and die in front of me. I was 13 and was with my 4 year-old brother in Cascais, my hometown in Portugal, as we watched this man grasp for his last breath - literally. That moment was crucial for my philosophical mind. A few minutes later I realized that I knew the guy, although I didn't recognize him until people the crowds gathered and identified him. I had known him when he was still alive, he used to be an assistant coach when I played football in a team as a child. He patted on my back many times before I went on the field, saying stuff like "Go and get them, Carlos." And on that day I saw him die... with my 4 year-old brother.
