About Me

Hello there!

Hey there Surfers! I'll be taking a break from late May onwards. Just returned to Couchsurfing on October after a 4 or so years hiatus, and since then I must have hosted over 20-30 different people, and while it's been AWESOME, I am an introvert and I need to go hermit mode and catch up on reading and gaming for a while.

However, don't hesitate in contacting me if you need advice about Cochabamba and Bolivia, or if you just wanna hang out and chill a bit. If you're in an emergency, or you know, just because you feel like it. I might be in the mood for hosting another weirdo with a taste for good food, music, movies or games. If I can't help you with directions or advice I might be able to find someone who can, I hang out with an eclectic bunch.

Always good to plan ahead, especially in a continent like South America with it's usual social, economical and political turmoil.

Have a lovely trip, best of luck on your travels and May the Force be with you!

Waldemar

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally started it because I wished to use my english more often. I do love the language. However, feel free to use spanish. Now I intend to offer a place, safe as can be, to as many travelers as catch my curiosity and interest. I have had many grand guests and I wish to add more to the list. Cultural exchange through this app has been wonderful before, I wish to dive into it again.

Interests

I enjoy a wide array of music, but I do have issues with most reggeton, trap and such. And most electronic, house, etc music environments usually trigger sensory overload, but you're free to listen to them on your headset of course. Just, I might be very reluctant to accompany you to those scenes.

420 Friendly, but that is as far as I am willing to go or have in the house.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jarabe de Palo favorite band. Right now quite hooked on Eric Johnson.

I enjoy Cult Cinema. Huge geek, so Marvel, DC, some Anime, Blockbusters I do enjoy. But I also enjoy British, French cinema. Can't beat a good Comedy. I do not think I have a favorite movie.

I am a member of the Tolkien Society so, I do love J.R.R. Tolkien and Fantasy. I like phylosophy, the Tao of Pooh is probably my favorite in that regard. Crime, Thriller and Historical Fiction too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed down a waterfall, don't want to ever do such a thing again.

Fell in love with a Witch, another kind of magic altogether.

Accidentally stole a chair once, feel free to ask once you arrive.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to cook! Was a professional cook for 10 years. I know my way around Bolivian cuisine, and also a fair ammount of Spanish, Italian and French stuff, from when I studied.

I have also been teaching English and Spanish since I was 16 so, I can help there as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a whole room, with a big bed and private bathroom. Couples are welcome, groups... not so much, but we can of course maybe talk first. There's also a Sofa/Bed and a big Sofa if needed. The place has hot water, internet, electricity, washing machine, kitchen.

It's located in 7th floor of an appartment building, right in the middle of Cochabamba. 2 blocks, ish, from El Prado. Cochabamba's main, historical avenue and Boulevard. You have a LOT of stuff nearby, and anything that is not within walking distance can be reached by bus or taxi. Taxis here are the cheapest of all 3 big cities. Safe neighborhood, neighbors can be a bit... whiney and bitchey, they are mostly older folk or families. But they usually keep to themselves.
