About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To develop myself as much as possible, to share beautiful moments with people

ABOUT ME

Born in Novi Sad, Serbia, but I grew up in Poland. I am a mix of four nations, which enriches/complicates my life. I try to enjoy the life i have as much as possible and to share this with other people as much as possible! Every human being is interesting for me, I think you can learn a lot from your own experience and reflections about, but the contact with different people of various backgrounds, and their minds and thoughts- is what develops you a lot more. I find CS a very good way to do that.

Art is the love of my life. Music, dance, visual arts, philosophy behind it is what I have it in my mind constantly. But I'm also interested in science, society changes, politics and human rights.
I study history of art since a year I'm a dancer, working with some Roma (Gypsy) & world music bands. I dance various forms of Gypsy dance ( like Russian and Turkish, for example), belly dance and tribal fusion. But every type of dance is interesting for me, so I'd love to meet other people who have the passion for dance!
The music, visual art, poetry and philosophy I love come mainly from the Middle and Far East- so for me, East is the Centre and I'm always opened to get know a bit more anything connected with that.

PHILOSOPHY

The dialogue: between people, between nations, between religions. Showing similarities, learning from the differences. I don't care how much idealistic it sounds, this is the idea I follow.

I don't believe in coincidences. Everything has its meaning, more or less.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I rent a room in Warsaw and right now i don't have a possibility to host, but I love meeting people. If we have similar interests, maybe i'll be able to show you around the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

With CouchSurfing I am a beginner, but before I created my account on CS, I stayed few times with friends being CS hosts, and each time it was a portion of very good emotions. Meeting CS people is always a kind of adventure I really enjoy, so I'd like to continue this!

Interests

Art and science.
At the moment, i'm interested mainly in the art&culture of Middle and Far East, of the Islamic, Jewish and Byzantine world. In general, i'm fascinated with dialogue between religions and cultures, their influences on each other.

Mysticism in its variety and similarity all around the world.

The cultures of Balkans, Turkey, Persia/Iran, Armenia, Sephardic Jews, Byzantium, India, Pakistan, Japan.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is the air I breathe, the blood in my veins, my inside nourishment. I need a variety of it.
I am interested in Romani (Gypsy) music from all of the world (and its modern versions). I love traditional music of Balkans, Armenia, Turkey, Persia, Sephardic Jews; the sounds of duduk, ney, santoor, setar, kamanche, daf; Klezmer tunes, Flamenco, Azerbaijani mugham, Rembetika, Sevdah, Indian ragas, Pakistani ghazals, Siberian shamanic chanting, Romanian doina and muzica populara from 30's and 40's... On the other hand, I like 50-60s Western music, like Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, French singers-songwriters like Jacques Brel and Serge Gainsbourg, classical music, various types of rock, punk, rockabilly, jazz ... and Orthodox music.

Movies- my favourite director is definitely Tony Gatlif. I love films filled with good music.
Fath Akin's Gegen die Wand (Head On), Crossing The Brigde: The sound of Istanbul;
The visionery of Sergey Parajanov.
Tous les matins du monde. Jarmusch, Kieślowski.Cinema Paradiso.

I love books, especially the ones connected with visual culture studies.
Persian Sufi poetry, and poetry in general.
Philosophy.
