About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn as much as I can about other cultures and broaden my perspective on life by meeting people from around the world. Helping others to enjoy my city/culture is great too!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in central Texas, and began traveling when I graduated high school. Although I've never taken very long trips (job pretty much limits me to 2 weeks at a time so far), I love seeing new cultures and places, checking out the local food, and meeting other travelers from all over the world. I recently moved to New Orleans, and I'm looking forward to making new friends, and checking out all the great food and music this city has to offer. To date, I've done two backpacking trips through Europe, and two through Southeast Asia. Moving forward, I'd really like to make my way down to South America, and also see more of the good 'ole US of A via road trip.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm either booked already, on vacation, or offshore for work for the next few months, so I'm on a temporary hosting hiatus.

Otherwise, I enjoy hosting and going to local meetups.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed before with previous acquaintances, and I really enjoyed the experience. I also try to hang out with the local CSers at the meetups and festivals New Orleans is always throwing. The more I've hosted the more I've enjoyed exploring the city with new people!

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been on an indie rock kick for a little while, but New Orleans is turning me into a jazz guy. I also have a soft spot for classic rock (Beatles and Zep) and folksy rock (thinking Neil Young here).

I don't read as much as I'd like but I really enjoyed the Sisters Brothers recently. I'd also recommend Lawrence in Arabia. I try to switch between fiction and non-fiction to mix things up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived two weeks of primitive camping in Big Bend National Park.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and I'm an avid news/current event junkie. I'd love to share some recipes or chat about current events!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a decent meal and a mostly informed conversation about current events.
